Rudolph Day at last

Finally finished my card for Sarn's February Rudolph Day.
On the 25th of each month, Sandra from Stamping for Pleasure hosts the  Rudolph Day Challenge. You have from the 25 till the end of the month to get your Christmas card submitted. There is a limit of one card and you can combine with up to 5 other challenges.

Sometimes there is a prize...this month it is a set of 2 lovely stamps. Mainly, it is a place to ensure you get at least a card finished a month and fellowship with a like minded group of paper crafters!

This month I wanted to create a card that included one of my recent thrift shops finds. I used a 25th wedding invitation from a 15 cent 3 pack! I die cut the number 25 to include the lovely oval  scroll pattern that surrounded it. I even saved the reverse image as I think I could find a way to work that into another Christmas card.
This card was really hard to photograph as I kept getting glare from the silver shimmery card stock. Here is a close up that shows the thrift shop #25 a little better. I think you will just be able to make out that the actual 2 and the 5 are embossed, whist the rest of the oval is just silver card stock with a cream flourish design.

This was a fun card to make but seemed to take forever as we have had a busy week. I had other cards on the go and everything seemed to be 75% finished and not getting any further along! Do you ever have days like that?

I was stalling getting them finished as I am a bit behind on visiting some blogs and tried to do a catch up this week. I like to page back and look at everything I have missed and leave comment on them too, so it can get a bit time consuming. Note to self...stay caught up!!!

Recipe:
Card base -Kraft corrugated card & envelope from my stash (originally from Michaels, Recollections brand
Card stock - silver and ivory from stash; silver scalloped card front from stash (originally from Michaels 2011 Xmas clearance bins
DP - My Minds Eye, Santa Claus
Material - cross stitch fabric from my stash (bought at the lake garage sale last summer)
Embellishments - from my stash (K & Co  Vintage Santa and Victorian child on Silver glitter snowflakes)
Dies - Memory Box - Snowflake; poinsettia; Snowflake corner
Bling - from my stash (originally from Dollarama)
Note - the large shimmery snowflake was pried off a 2012 Christmas card I received

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Stamping for Pleasure February Rudolph Days - Must be Christmas Card
2. Pixies Crafty Workshop - Must use snippets; The card stock for the dies, the piece of bling, the teensy red diamond bling, the cross stitch fabric, are all from snippets.
3. CHNC Extra - Must be Christmas, Anything goes
4. Christmas at Sweet Stampin - Snowflakes
5. Winter Wonderland - Snowflakes falling all around
6. Simon Says Stamp - Anything goes

I love this card Mo!! Everything about it is great - and such a super idea to use cross stitch fabric (aida) - my guess is that it would work a bit like burlap if you cut it with a die?

And thanks so much for the cleaning tip - we have a few of those sticky rollers here, and they don't get used as much since we retired and stopped wearing business suits every day. So, I've pinched one for my craft room :))

Hugs, Di xx

You were asking on my blog whether I sell my cards for charity - yes, I do - I don't make any profit, but give this to certain charities. I have a sale on 9 March at a friend's house and then one here on 16 March. I make loads of cards throughout the year, including about 400 Christmas cards x

I do love reading how you incorporate all those thrifty finds into something deliciously lovely. Great idea to use the 25th wedding as a Christmas card! It is very pretty indeed, and the emboss did show up pretty well. I'm behind too (I seem to stay that way!) Tomorrow should be quiet (HA!) so I can try to play some catchup. TFS
