Spent last Saturday creating more hair pretties. I went with my neighbour to an all day crop and just kicked back and made flowers all day. It was great, no stress in deciding what to pack.
I grabbed...
1. a tote bag of flower petals, netting and maribou supplies
2. a bin with scissors, glue gun, glue sticks etc.
My husband questioned where all my other tote bags were and was surprised I could manage at a crop with so few supplies! LOL
Maybe it is not quite a "sea" of flowers (as I am a bit of a slow worker), but I am happy with what I got done.
Some are for little Miss C and others will be Xmas prezzies for some friends children. I try to keep specific outfits in mind so they will coordinate nicely. Another friend suggested I watch for little velvet purses and add a matching flower to them as well. I might just do that!
My daughters are wanting to take a booth at a Christmas Craft Fair in the city. They each have special items they would like to market there and would like me to make my hair pretties and bags. Time will tell if I get enough made to send with them...or if I will call it a day and get on with my paper crafts.
Without further adieu, here are some of my new favourites. These first few have hair clasp barrettes.
This orange and purple one is for a Dora lover...it will match a Dora ensemble! teehee
These are my fave hairbands.
This last red satin, feathers and netting one is on a simple hair clip.
To better show you the sea of flowers, I have created a collage (just learned how thanks to the Biannual Blogathon Bash mini challenge). This collage is a grouping of some of the various types of flowers I have made so far!

Finally getting a bit of time to get back to crafting and card making! It is after midnight, my husband is sound asleep and so I thought I would grab a few minutes to get a post up.
Remember all those flower posts from a while back? I finally have some finished projects to share. I made a few different hair pretties by layering differing sizes and types of flowers and then gluing them onto a hair clip. They are trimmed at the back by a circle of felt and a generous swatch of maribou. The little clip slides into a wee pony tail and is perfect for fine hair!
Boy oh boy, is that maribou messy to work with...it was floating everywhere! I felt like sneezing I tell you!!!
I did a few different colours to go with some of Miss C's outfits. Let me know which colours you like the best....
These first two really show up the black maribou against the white background. You will see that on some of them I have added a few pieces of netting as well.
This last one has really wide, white maribou shot through with silver threads...You will have to take my word for it, as it is just blending completely into the background here!!!
Update: OK...the battery is finally charged...here is the white maribou on a pink background so you can enjoy all the fluffy goodness of it!
Finally, I did manage to make a couple of cards. They are cheater cards really, as all the elements on the card are store bought! I figure I can get a way with it as DH is still recovering and it has been a rough few weeks.
Update: I forgot to include the inside of the card...here it is...simple but effective I hope.
I need to make a couple more as my sister has had a really bad fall off her horse (while schooling) and has such a bad concussion she can't remember about an 8 hour stretch. She is asking things over and over yet doesn't recall that she asked it already. I am so worried about her!!! Wish I lived closer...I am working on a card for my Mom to give her and one from me. I won't post them here till she receives them as she follows my blog. The horse was injured as well and the saddle and helmut are ruined!

This smaller one has a soft pink maribou trim but it is a wee bit hard to see. I can't redo the picture as my
camera batteries just died! Sorry about that!

Scrapping With Friends
I got home at 10:45pm from making hair clip flowers at Lisa's. She lives right next door, so I didn't have far to walk. We burnt though those flowers (pun intended!), while we drank tea and watched Mad Men.
She has Netflicks:) I think we just finished watching the 6th episode of season one. .. I love that show and it sure is fun to watch while crafting.
Just have to glue the flowers onto the hair clips and then I will post a picture.
DH and his good friend went to the boat show downtown. I laughingly told him don't come home with a new boat! Last year he set off to the boat show with the intention of purchasing a new one as our old one had finally quit. After an evening of hard bargaining he came home with a new Bayliner. This year he just looked and toured the yachts!!! Cheeky! He was surprised how much the price of his boat had increased this year!

Hair Pretties
Seems that I am still on a bit of a hair pretties kick! I am still making the fabric flowers that I have blogged about previously, but I am now trying something new.
Little Miss C was very excited to tell me that she would like us to make a new style of flower hair clips. She was able to describe them quite clearly (she is only 5) and told me she would like some quite large rhinestones in the center. She kept saying I can show you, I can show you, Grandma.
She ran upstairs and came down with a backpack case that was decorated with HUGE rhinestones and she pointed and said...Oh!...something like THESE!
Now, I must mention that my DD likes little Miss C to look cute in her clothes and accessories but dislikes anything garish...Oh dear...Houston, I think we have a problem.
A bit more conversation ensued about how we should make them with little Miss C nodding her head knowingly and reassuring me that she could show me how to do them. She shared some detailed explanations of the type of clips to use...ones she assures me that she "knows will stay in her hair" and then scampered off upstairs.
A wee bit later she comes running back down, triumphantly waving something in the air and calling out...I found it!!! See Grandma...I told you I could show you how to make them!!!
Can you guess what was in her hand? This beautiful flower hair clip!!! Of course she knew it would stay in her hair cuz she had already worn them...successfully I might add.
In all the discussion, she had never once mentioned that she already owned one and we could use it for the pattern.
hahahahahahahahaha...I love being a Grandma!!!!!!!!
