It is time for the April Rudolph Days Challenge. The time seems to have flown by for me, since last months challenge!

Sam at Whispers Cards blog has made us two lovely cards. The first one has a beautiful non traditional colour scheme. The sweet floral bouqet is highlighted by a lovely die that has the sentiment written around the circular shape. That die is so cool! I like the design Sam created here.
Sam's second card is lovely too. This one follows a similar design, but has a totally different look with soft, light colours this time. The snowman is a sweetie and she has used that lovely die again to frame the snowman. I hope you will pop over and visit Sam on her blog, just follow the hyperlink here.
Just a little update on Al and I. We both had our first jab. Mine was last week, and Al was two weeks ago as he is ever so slightly older than me! Both our daughters and our son-in-law have had theirs too! We feel blessed. Canada has a vaccine shortage at the moment as we do not make any vaccines here. Therefore, the government has decided to protect as many people as possible with the first jab and delay the second jab for 16 weeks. Not sure how I feel about being part of an experiment to see if the vaccine protects effectively for the 16 week delay, but such is life!
They have tightened our restrictions here and travel outside our public area is prohibited, and restaurants have closed to indoor dining again. We had self isolated the whole time so being able to meet the kids outside again (socially distanced) is wonderful. Just a few more days for me and we can do that again!
More good news for me too! I have a date for the breast clinic at the end of May. They do the mamagram, ultrasound and any scans there before they see you. So it is good that I will have the protection of the vaccine for that visit as I think the visit is 2 1/2 hours long. Although it has been a long wait for the appointment, part of that is due to covid and the rest of the wait is just part of the price of free medical care. Although our medical system is free, we have a shortage of specialists and doctors, so we have to put up with wait times...

It is time for our January Rudolph Days Challenge. I still have not figured out how to cut and paste the rules from an old blog post. This new blogger drives me crazy! I also have the problem that I have to insert the HTML codes to create paragraph breaks, etc. I have a wee list of certain directions beside my computer for whenever I write a blog post now! Just certain blogs are affected, it seems it depends on the format, etc of your blog. I have tried changing things up as they suggested, but it did not solve the problem.

Linda has made up some pretty cards and a tag for our inspiration. The card and the tag use the same bow die...I think I just might recognize the bow die she used on these, but will check her blog post for the details. The tag uses the same bow die and is so sweet. I love these non traditional colours!
And now the best part!!! I think Linda has taken the waste from inside the die cut and created this New Years card. The confetti pieces look very much like I would imagine the die waste to be. Clever lady, our Linda! I really like the idea of using up the waste instead of just sweeping it into the trash. How about you?
Jenny is having a wee break this month and so instead, I have done up three items for your perusal. I say items, as I did not make cards. Instead, I have made some tree ornaments which I used on the tree this year. I had so much fun making them, that I plan to make about a dozen in total!
The black circles are wooden discs already cut into the shape of a tree bauble. I simply stamped a few different Tim Holtz images onto the discs with Versamark ink, and then sprinkled them with ivory matte finish embossing powder. I had to hold onto the bauble shape with tweezers when I used the heat gun as my fingers were getting a little too toasty. I stamped and embossed both side of the disc so that the design shows if the bauble hangs sideways.
I used some red striped twine for the hanger. I cut a piece of the twine twice the length that I wanted the hanger portion to be, and folded it in half. and slid the looped twine edge through the hole in the bauble disc. I then pulled the remaining tails of twine through that loop, and then pulled it taunt. I now had the twine lying in a nice sort of flat manner so I could slide the bead onto the twine and have it sit exactly where I wanted it. I took the two tails and guesstimated the length I wanted and tied a knot upon itself, rather than tying the two ends to each other.
I love the way they look, but might make up six in total like this and then do six more with plaim jute twine and a red bead for a little colour. I plan to use Tim Holt ink to make it red.
Thank you for the get well wishes I have received. I have had a painful hot lump, deep in my breast and also deep in my upper thigh, since late fall. I have a history of cysts in those areas ever since I was hospitalized three years ago at Christmas time. I caught MRSA while in hospital then and was in quarantine at that time. We do not venture out due to covid so at first my doctor was away and the locum doctor was not keen to give a script for antibiotics. She wanted me to come in and then be sent for a scan and then to a specialist to have it excised or removed. She was wanting to cover herself and me for a possibility of a cancer finding. Having been though this before, I knew that chances were high it was a cyst as to have it in breast and thigh has been the scenario each time. Also, there was a very slim chance that it would still be visible by the time all that was arranged, as it is months to see a specialist here and the same for scans. My doctor finally returned and gave me the script as he knows my history. I did have to have a renewal of the script as that is normal for me, and things seemed under control. Sadly, it has returned and so I guess I have to bite the bullet and go into the office so he can take a look. I am hoping he will just write a stronger script as you do have to have the right one, or just send me for an ultrasound as I do still think it is just a cyst. This would be much faster than a specialist and a scan.
It has thrown me for a loop as I did not even get all my Christmas cards mailed...I just could not get all the writing done comfortably. So, wish me luck, and if you usually get a card from me and were missed this year, that is why! I addressed all my cards and did the writing in them as soon as I noticed the lump so that I could isolate (quarantine) the cards in a bag, before sending them. If you did get a card, they all had a good spray of Lysol too!

Hi there. In spite of COVID, lockdowns, and all the rest, it still seems the days have sped by this year. This is our last Rudolph Challenge of 2020 and I can hardly believe it!

Jenny has made this beautiful angel card. I love the combination of kraft papers, shimmery pearlescent papers, and of course the gold. They look wonderful hilighting this pretty angel image.

Next up is Linda at Snail's Space blog. Linda has created this reaaly adorable penguin easel type card. The blue colours here are perfect for this penguin scene. I love the snowy look here. Linda raised the heart to form the stopper that allows the easel card to stay open.
Linda has created a second really cute gnome card. Gnomes are so popular this year. I have not tried one yet, but sure love this one. I like the scene she has created for the gnome to be situated in. This card really tickles my fancy!
Methinks Linda has plans for a good many gnome cards in the days ahead as she is sharing one more thing she has made up on her desk!

I must warn you that there may be some delay getting the prizes mailed out. Al and I are not venturing out except to pick up our groceries. We are still sheltering at home as we both are high risk. Whe my daughter has time, she will mail them for me, but it has to fit into her schedule, and they do not go out much either. They both have had to work throughout the pandemic, so still limit any other ventures to enclosed spaces. All their time off is spent camping with the same few friends that practise sociall distancing as well. They do not go inot friends homes nor have anyone in theirs...
So, when she has something to mail or pickup herself, she will post the prizes...so bear with me and it will eventually get there. Currently, we are up to date on our mailing, except one, where the winner has asked me to hold onto it till Christmas time!

My card is another upcycled one. Because the original image was so large, I made a 6x6 inch card base and added the trimmed down card front straight onto a piece of shimmery pale blue card stock by DCWV. I hand cut two hills from white glitter card, hoping that they would look like snowbanks.
Added a glittery aqua foam snowflake that is eons old. I bought a few packages of these at my local dollar store many years ago and still have a few tucked away! I added a small bow from some fine ivory cord, just to contrast with the more dressy look of this card...

It has been a few weeks since I posted a card for the Christmas Card Club Challenge. I was babying my neck to relax and release it, so I just had not been making cards.

My Nativity stamp is Christmas/Noel, from Recollections, 2017. I think it is the first time I have used it...but not completely sure. I can not remember using it but wonder of that is just old age setting in!
The image was hard to stamp. I wasted a whole 8x10 sheet of Bazzill stamping paper and kept getting an image that was not crisp. I switched to Tsukineko, Versa Fine Clair, Nocturne and got a crisp image first time!
I swiped the image with soft aqua and pale lavender chalk inks. You can barely see it as I think I was a bit too cautious.
I matted the finished image with a snippet of dark teal ombre style HunkyDory Mirri card and placed that on a piece of Best Creations Surf's Up glitter embossed paper.
This card is proof that any design paper can be used on any type of card! The A side of this paper is large aqua hibiscus flowers heavily embossed with clear glitter here and there. Luckily, the flip side is this sunburst type design hopefully looking like the rays from the North Star.
I wiped all the edges of the DP and the mirri card with a violet chalk ink. The teal ombre Mirri card fades into a violet colour even though it hardly shows up on this card.
Another mat of the HunkyDory mirri and this card was done. Well, almost done. I added a small aqua diamond on the star over the nativity. Of course I did not realize it was slightly crooked till I took this photo...it has since been straightened,

My card is a Bella image from LOTV, coloured with pencil crayons and gamsol, I matted with a green dotted DP and matted again with a turquoise mirri card. The background DP is from Bo Bunny Christmas In The Village, and the two strips of dotted green paper are the leftover snippets from cutting the image mat. I gave them a heavy swipe of Ocean Depth Blue, Versa Magic Chalk Ink along all the edges to make them stand out a little more against that colourfull bauble background. I even used it on the outer edge of the bauble design paper.
The Snowflake is from Hobby Lobby, and I popped a sentiment from Helz Cuppleditch's Wonderland series over that snowflake.

Sams first card is so darn cute. All these little pups are so eager to wish you a Happy Christmas! I think they are all so cute too. My faves are the Daschunds. Sam sure has the perfect sentiment here!
Sam has made us a second card and I love this design style. As you look at the front of the card you see a cute snowman in an aperture, with lots of lovely snowflake die cuts about.
When you open the card you realize that the aperture is a frame around the image which is actually sitting on the inside of the card. It is a hidden treasure!
Both of the inside pages are decorated with more of the snowflake die cuts. I love the garland ones! They go great with the snowflake circles.
No card from me today. I have had a crick in my neck for well over a week and it has made my muscles so tense that I am now in pain down to my lower back. I already take quite strong painkillers for my arthritis, and they are not budging the pain at all. I feel a good massage or two would sort me out fairly quickly, but we are still not leaving the house other than walks and to pick up the grocery order.
Hopefully, it lets up soon.

Once again it is time for the Christmas Card Club. We are a group of ladies who like to make our Christmas cards throughout the year, so we take turns choosing a theme each fortnight, and then play along to create a themed card. To view the others ladies work, glance at my right sidebar and click on their names, I have attached hyperlinks to their blogs.
My card is a Canadian version of the snowflake theme. I took the brief quite literally! My card features a few snowflakes, but most importantly it features what can be done with snowflakes!
Igloos, as shown in my image, can be used for shelter in the far Canadian North Our Inuit people created our first igloos and now kids all over Canada built igloo snow forts in the winter. My own kids and grandkids have built some quite impressive ones. I actually remember learning the physics of how to build one, in Elementary School!
I live in the southern part of B.C. and we are not far enough North for our igloos to freeze solid for long periods of time. They stand proudly for a few days of freezing temperatures and then slump inwards as temperatures rise, causing our igloos to melt.
I am not sure where I got this image. It is definitely NBUS. When I first started card making, friends gave me stamped images. I did not blog in those days, so did not write down manufacturers names, or stamp names. I have had this image for a very long time.
This was a fun image to colour. I just used two shades of a light grey colour and a dot of pale pink in each bear's ear. I also added tons of Wink of Stella!
I used snippets for the snowflakes and all the mats. It sure feels good to use up some snippets! As always, the mirri card mats are hard to get the true colour to show up in a photo. The teal is a much lighter shade IRL. The light bouncing off the mirri, makes it appear so much darker...

My card is made from a recycled image. I could not resist reusing this adorable image!
This is another snippets card. The background paper is BoBunny Mistletoe and is left over from a 12x12 Bo Bunny scrapbook kit. The lime green mat is a snippet of quite heavy glittered card, and the border strip just a snippet of plain red card.
I even managed to use up some odds and ends of embellishments. This was the last snippet of fine red striped twine and the snowflake was punched from a small kraft snippet.
The flowers stacked are a very old green Recollections poinsettia, (which I trimmed down in size), and the wee red one is a NBUS from Jolee's by You by EK Success. I picked up this packet of flowers at a paper crafts garage sale. There is a liberal use of Wink of Stella clear, over the holly and berries.

This is a hard theme for me as I am not very funny! My husband is the humourous one in our family.
Luckily, I do have a couple of funny looking images so was able to fill the brief!
My card today features a very old (2008) Fluffles the Cat Christmas stamp. It is an old wooden stamp and it always amazes me how well rubber stamps hold up over the years.
My design is made up of snippets. The Christmas light background paper is a snippet of 12x12 scrapbook paper, leftover from a layout. It has long lost the identifying manufacturers edge.
The three green holly print fish tale banners are from another 12x12 snippet, again unknown.
I used a Wonky Stitched Rectangle die by Scrappin Cottage to cut out Fluffles. I then added a plain red mirri card mat. I will add the die manufacturer later as I am not in my craft room at the moment. The image was coloured with pencil crayons and gamsol. Wink of Stella was added to the image quite liberally. A trio of green rhinestones finished off this card.

My card is a Wellington decoupage. Years ago, I bought a package of decoupage sheets, design papers, sentiments, and various precoloured images in this Wellington theme. I have since lost the front page that told the Wellington collection name...
There are four layers to my decoupage. I tossed away the fifth layer as I find they will not fit through the mail if lifted too high! I kept this card quite simple. Just the layered image, one of the Wellington kit sentiments, and one of their design papers.
I tore the edge of the mat so that I could add a little fine jute twine. I thought it tied the beige/brown colours of the bear back into the mat.

I have a fairly simple design for my card today. This is a card that is meant to showcase the image, so I added very little decoration.
This is an image from Wild Rose Studio called Mouse on a Bauble. I think it is so sweet. I have a collection of Wild Rose Studio stamps and most have not yet met ink! I am going to try to use them at least once each by the end of this year!
The background design paper is Scrapberries Snowflakes Lustrous Lilac from their Elegantly Festive Collection, I have a couple of friends who love purple and lilac shades so decided to make yet another non traditional coloured card!
The image is coloured with copics and shaded around the edges with Tim Holtz distress inks.
I merely matted the image and the sentiment onto some snippets of purple mirri card. I gave the fur trim on the hat and the dots on the baubles a touch of Stickles, added a few rhinestones and called it a day. Hope you like it!

I must mention that I have agonized over whether to continue mailing out prizes during this pandemic. I worry about spreading any virus, etc. I have decided to continue offering the prize but whether it can actually be mailed right away will depend on where you live. Canada Post has a huge list of countries that they no longer offer mail service to. If you live in one of those countries, I will notify you and hold your prize until mail delivery opens up again. If you are on the approved list that Canada Post still ships to, then I will give you a choice of whether you wish me to mail it, or whether you wish to wait it out till safer times. Also. please keep in mind that we are over 66 so I am not leaving the house now and Al is not venturing out very often. For those that request mailing, your prize will be mailed with a couple of weeks time period. If I could just use my scale to determine the mailing costs and place the stamps on and drop it into the mail slot at the end of my street, it would be so easy. Instead, I have to do a customs declaration (which I have at home now) but they require a trip to the actual Post Office for their official postal stamp and signature.
Our design team ladies have been busy creating lots of inspiration for you! Sue T of Sues Crafty Corner blog has made up this beautiful gold framed scene. The gold fancy frame die cut is amazing! I love the glittery look of the stag in the forest scene, and I am looking forward to popping over to Sue's to see just how she accomplished that look. Next up is Sam at Whisper's Cards blog. Sam has made us this vintage Sunbonnet Sue image card. Love the way she is trailing the gingerbread cookies and how Sam has repeated the cookie theme down the left side
Sam has made a second card for our inspiration. Sam's belly band style card features this pretty button wreath. I am loving that DP with all the Christmas phrases!
The card opens from each side to reveal a lovely sentiment...

My card is made from an image I stamped a couple of years ago and coloured while on a cruise. I took about 20 images and my pencil crayons and set to work in the open area beside the pool. It was amazing how many people stopped by my table to ask what I was working on!
As I have been cleaning and organizing my craft room during quarantine, I have disposed of this stamp as I decided that it was just not my look. Since I cannot waste an coloured image, I have made it up into a card...hope you like the non traditional colours!
The DP starry, snowy background paper is Fancy Pants Tradition and sadly I never thought to write down the stamp name before I got rid. The frame bright turquise teal scalloped frame is Lawn Fawn and the dark teal mat was a snippet. A few different sized mauve rhinestones added here and there finished up this card.
