New Rudolph Days Challenge blog reminder

Don't forget. The Rudolph Days Challenge can now be found here.

RudolphDaysChallenges.blogspot.com

I want to once again thank Helen for taking over the challenge and hope you will pop over there and congratulate her too. Of course if you entered a Christmas card or Christmas project while you were over there, that would be welcomed too! I will post again later with my entry.

Great News! Rudolph Days Challenge will continue on.

Well...COVID hit both Al and I right after my last post. I have not been round to visit anyone yet and I am just today able to finally sit and type this post. We both test negative now, but still feel exhausted, with a hacking cough and we both can not take a deep breath of air. We got the new covid drug right after our positive test and I think it did help.

I have some fabulous news! Helen Nile has offered to take over the Rudolph Days Challenge. She has set up a new blog for the Rudolph Days Challenge. It is live now and the first challenge will be Feb 25, 2024. You can find it at (rudolphdayschallenges.blogspot.com) I hope you will play along and enter a card each month as you used to do with me. I will be playing along as much as I can, as I do love how this challenge helps get the Christmas cards done! I had computer trouble today and had to have geek squad reset my computer. My hyperlink option does not seem to be working now...ugggh. I will get it corrected and hopefully have the hyperlink up here on Feb 25 so you can just follow it over to Helen's new site.

I will do the draw for the January winner tomorrow as I am off back to bed...

Jan 2024 Rudolph Days Challenge

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. Sadly, this will be the last Rudolph Days Challenge post from this blog. Many of you know that Al and I have not had the best of health these last couple of years. You know that we also want to downsize to a rancher in a gated community, as Al struggles with with the stairs now. My mobility issues have made the stairs a bit dangerous for me as well, so we have been looking at various complexes for the right floor plan and site amenities, for about a year.

We have found 4 complexes that we like with a pool and hot tub to help keep us mobile, as well as a meeting/craft room for me! So, we are listing our house on Feb 1st. Hopefully, we manage to find one for sale as so far we have missed out on 2, and have turned several down that had terrible locations (busy road etc). Our daughter has a basement suite at ground level (no stairs), and they wish to not rent it out anymore. They will just use it themselves for their own family, and would let us stay there while we look if we do not find something in time.
With all the work ahead re searching listings, viewings at our place, packing, and unpacking, etc. I have decided to close the challenge. If anyone would like to take it over, email me at maureenkane@telus.net. This week I will be checking over each month making sure that all prizes for 2023 have been mailed out. Email me at maureenkane@telus.net if I have missed you. Sorry if you are one that I missed, but that is another reason I need to step down. Getting out to mail prizes is a bigger chore with poor mobility!

I have done up 2 cards for your inspiration this month. I have had the designers retire in December, so as to allow them this last chance to participate and try for a prize as well. My first card is a tentfold 6x6 inch square, featuring die cuts. It was a simple card to make and is great one for low depth when trying to keep postage to the minimum. The red bow is layered up a bit for a wee bit of depth.
My second card features some cheeky little reindeer. I think they are trying to kick up their heels! I had fun stamping and colouring this image. I then used snippets to complete the matting and set it onto to a pale blue background with silver embossed snowflakes. Amazing how my computer has made it look like a pale green background! The sentiment is many years old and I picked up a sheet of them at the time. Lots left to use up now!
Our prize will be this Karen Burniston Merry Christmas die and this Memory Box poinsettia die.

2023 Special Prize Winner

I could not use random org in the usual mannner, as of coure there were not any numbered entries. So, I wrote out tickets, and had my husband draw a name from a hat.

The winner is Jenny L. Jenny is a member of my design team and let me tell you how happy I was to see her name drawn. Designers get a package of crafty presents from me each year, but it is always nice to see any extra treats going to a designer. They all work so hard to design cards and to visit your blogs leaving lovely comments!

Well done Jenny, for your win!

This weekend I went to a Scrapbook crop. Boy oh Boy, do I need to find a better way to sort out what to take and pack accordingly! I took way too much stuff.

November Rudolph Days Challenge

It is once again time for the Rudolph Days Challenge. You have till midnight on the last day of this month to enter a Christmas themed card or project. Remember to leave a comment on this post and perhaps visit a couple of the other entries, just for the fun of it!

Jenny is first up with two cards for our inspiration! The first is a very sweet gnome themed card. Gnomes are sure popular and Jenny's card are aways a treat. Her grouping of gnomes with falling snow look so lovely. I really like the sentiment greeting with the glitter card insert behind.
Jenny's second card is a fun, cheery card that brings instant memories of sitting with a treasured friend sharing a cuppa and a gingerbread cookie. I am sure ready to do that again this year! I hope you will pop over to Jenny's blog and leave her some love. If you do, you will get to see what wonderful ideas she has used for the inside of her cards. Jenny always makes the inside just as lovely as the fronts!

I have made up three scenic cards. I had three already stamped images left in my unfinished drawer. I tried various sky backgrounds with chalk, and chose to leave two of the cards uncoloured apart from the sky. The third card I coloured up with copic green shades and then matted them all with a mirri card mats. The background treed design paper is unknown as it was selected a long time ago when these images originally went into the unfiinished pile. I have managed to lose the scrap of paper I had the manufacturer on. Even the sentiments were chosen from my already stamped or unused sentiment packets.

Our prize this month is this Spellbinders Christmas Blooms cutting die.

October Rudolph Days

It is time to post your entries for the October Rudaolph Days Challenge. As always, our designers have been working hard to inspire you.

First up is Sam at Whispers Cards blog. Sam has made two gorgeous cards featuring quilled poinsettias. These flowers are stunning! I know they must have been so much work to make, but it was so worth that time investment.

I also really like the difference in the style of the two cards. The first has a lovely vintage feel, thanks to the design papers that Sam chose.

Sam's second card is a modern design and is stunning too! The poinsettia pops off the page on this design. Well done, Sam! I hope you will all head on over to Sam's blog using the hyperlink above. You will read about how she created these cards, and while you are there you can leave her some love.

Here is a photo of the inside of Sam's second card...
Next up is Marjeta from Marjeta's Creative Company blog.Marjeta has also made us two fabulous cards. The first is really cute. The band is so adorable and well coloured up too! I can not help but wonder just which Christmas carol they are singing! It looks as there may be several layers in this card. Why don't we follow the hyperlink above and head on over to Marjeta's blog to read all about it. Leave her some love while you are there...
Marjetas second card has the sweetest snowmen. It is very cute and so much fun. The crisp and clean look of this card is so lovely!
Our prize this month is this Stampendous Merry Greeting stamp.

September Rudolph Days Winner

We had 34 lovely entries! I have been around visiting you all. What fabulous cards. I only had two entries that I could not visit. For the first, I do not have instagram and for the second one, I had one blog or wordpress or something that would not let me in without filling out some huge facebook sign up sheet. As I do not have to do that with any other blog, I was reluctant to do so...just in case... I used Random org to choose our winner #3, Liz Cavill. Liz, please drop me an email to maureenkane@telus.net

I love both of these stunning cards. As always, Jenny has finished the insde of her cards beautifully as well! I always look forward reading her posts and viewing the inside of her cards. August Rudolph Days Challenge

Once again. it is time for the Rudolph Days Challenge. You have till the end of the month to submit your Christmas card or Christmas project, and don't forget if you are submitting your same card to other challenges, we have a limit of ten other challenges in total, including ours. Don't forget to leave a comment here, as well.

Our designers have been busy creating inspiration for you. First up is Sam, at Whispers Cards blog. Sam has created this darling Christmas tree card. I love the pretty design papers she chose, and best of all I love the way the verse is highlighted by the apperture Sam has cut from the embossed tree cardstock! Such a cool idea. That pretty piece of pink ribbon is perfect and really makes the background DP shine. I hope you will pop over to Sams blog and leave her some praise!

Next is Marjeta from Marjeta's Creative Company. Marjeta has made this adorable snowman card! This little trio of snowmen make me grin, as this image is so fun. Marjeta has added lots of texture on this card. The background looks great, it looks just like a snowy day! The snippet of ribbon also reminds of snow. I hope you will pop over to Marjeta's blog and leave her some praise.

July Rudolph Days Challenge

It seems this month flew by, and now it is time for the July Rudolph Days Challenge. Seems so hard to believe that summer is more than half way over. We have had some lovely hot days (and nights), and today (and hopefully tomorrow) brings some much needed rain. My garden sure enjoyed the good soaking as all my plants look a little perkier now. At the moment, we have over 500 wildfires burning here in British Columbia, so the rain will hopefully be a bonus for the firefighters!

Our design team has been busy creating beautiful cards for our inspiration. First up is Sue from Sues Crafty Corner Blog

Sue has made some beautiful cards...multiples as always! Sue has chosen such a great image for the feature of her cards. I wonder just what those adorable mice will get up to! Great colours and such a lovely hand stamped border background! Well done, Sue! I hope you will all take a moment and follow the hyperlink on her blog name above, and pop over to her blog to leave her some praise for these beauties.

Next up is Jenny at Cardsarus blog. Jenny has made beauitful cards for us too! Jenny has used a great design that calls for scraps of glitter card that have been diecut or punched into circles, and then stacked and shaped to resemble a Christmas tree. I love the way she decorated all the circles. I must say, Jenny has an amazing Christmas button collection! I hope you will follow the hyperlink on her blog name and pop over to leave Jenny some praise.
Our prize this month is this Memory Box Holly die bundle.

May Rudolph Days Challenge

Hi there. I have great news to share. My shoulders are feeling so much better since the injections! My pain levels are manageable and I have regained shoulder movement and ability. Also, Al had his test results and while they still can not do any surgery for his heart valve issue, he has had his medications changed up. This has increased his energy levels, so he is happy about that. He still has days where he feels exhausted, but they are fewer now and overall he is feeling so much improved.

Our designers have been busy. First up is Sue of Sue's Crafty Corner blog. Once again, Sue has made up multiples of cards for our inspiration! Eight lovely Angel themed cards, if you can believe it!!!
Here is a close up for your viewing pleasure!
I think the angel image is beautiful and looks like Sue has the matching angel die. I really like the differing designs she created. The backgrounds are all so pretty and Sue has used some lovely die cut mats as well. It is hard to pick a favourite. I hope you will follow the hyperlink above and pop by Sue's blog to leave her a comment.

Next up is Jenny at Cardsarus blog. Jenny has made two stunning cards with a wonderful design. I do not know the name of this type of card but will be popping on over to Jenny's blog to read about what they are called, and to find out just how she made them! I hope you will follow the hyperlink above and pop over too. First up is this amazing card featuring sweet kids building a snowman. Lots of traditional colours and red glitter card here! Don't you think this is a great design?
Jenny has made us a second card with this great design. This one features non tradional colours and lots of glitter as well! This card features a very sweet looking angel and Jenny has created a blue background that looks like the sky, so it creates a feeling of the angel flying! I love these two cards and want to give this design a try...
Our prize this month is a Poppy die called Stained Glass Poinsettia.
