WOYWW 197 Thrifting and Candy

My desk is a sea of ribbon and lace with the rest of my thrift shop finds buried underneath it all. It is in desperate  need of sorting!
They were all bargains from a fun day out with a girlfriend, wandering thru the various thrift shops in our area.   There are so many different types of ribbon and lace and so many colours and shades of colours that I feel giddy sorting it.

I usually roll lace on a bobbin winder thingy and then slide a teensy  elastic band around it very loosely so it doesn't get imprinted with a tight sort of pucker indentation..I then toss those into my rows of colour coded square glass jars that sit at the back of my worktop counter. Haven't managed to get this stuff sorted as I am out of elastics...well that's my excuse and I am sticking to it!!!

Here they are broken down into the individual lots I bought...
75 cents for all of these
and $1.50  total for these two lots.

You might remember the card I made from cutting up and 3D layering three floral shower invites. I found a few more invite sets that day...this sweet embossed tiny watering bucket of flowers and a set of three 25th wedding celebration invites. Strange as it may seem...I bought them to use on Christmas cards with the fancy 25 being die cut and used to symbolize Xmas day. They were 15 cents for all of them! The spool of thread was 15 cents and will come in handy for stitching on cards or layouts. The clear basket of ribbon and lace was 50 cents...I love the hot pink!
On the far right of the first photo, you may have noticed some crinoline material.and a  huge piece of  linen fabric. Here is a bit of a close up.
That linen jumped right into my basket as soon as I spied the $3.00 tag for a 60 x 106 inch piece! I have started to tear some into strips and may stamp a sentiment on it. Some I will cut into flowers and who know what else! I just had to have it.

Off to the far, far left of the first photo you can see the lovely blog candy that I won from  Daniella Hayes at
Daniella Hayes Layers of Creativity blog. Lucky me! She drew my name and sent me this lovely assortment of Tim Holtz products. Daniella tied them up with jute and decorated the Kraft tag with a Hello Kitty theme!
There are two distress inks - tumbled glass and pumice stone and a distress stain - broken china. There is also a TH Stampers Anonymous Visual Artistry stamp set - Natures Elements. I love the images but particularly love the sentiments. They will  be perfect for the inspirational type of cards I am sending my daughter in Monaco. Thanks so much Daniella!

Stop by Julia's blog Stamping Ground and you too can visit all the other creative work desks this week.

Well done on your win from Daniela, you are going to have lots of fun with that. And those laces and ribbons are fabulous! I envy you that big piece of crinoline, we can't get the same quality here in the UK - you are going to have fun with that too I think. Happy WOYWW, Anne x #23

Oh you had me a bit confused about the weather as you said it was raining in Surrey (B C - don't know what this means sorry) when I live in Surrey (UK) and it is far too cold for rain as it is snowing yet again!
I then looked on your profile and found you live in Canada! I think the dollar signs and thrift shop references were a bit of a give away though - as we have charity shops here - LOL
Anyway, super buys and the TH stamps are brilliant. Happy WOYWW BJ#42 and thanks for visiting me.

What a lot of lovely things on your desk today. Those lace bargains have me a delicate shade of green with envy. Love lace. Never find bargains like that. Also the win is super, a wonderful selection for us to feast on.
Thanks for visiting me earlier and happy WOYWW week - Hugs, Neet 16 xx
ps don't think there are that many shows in August - July and August tend to be vacation months. Will have a look around but for shops you would be best to get a magazine when you arrive and look through the listings.

I love all those beautiful jars full of gorgeous colours. I went through my ribbons recently and rewound them on strips of mountboard and got them all tidily into one box. You have a beautiful lot of extras there from your thrift shop bargains. Thank you for your visit. We also have trouble with post getting bent etc, not to mention the couriers who think the right method of delivery is to throw it over the back gate. Have a good week enjoying all your lovely purchases. xx Maggie #9

Such an array of goodies. Wish we had thrift stores in the UK. I would be camped in the foyer every day! Lol. what a great idea to use the 25 for christmas cards. Good thinking and a snip at the price.

Hi ya, my goodness I've been such a bad blogger - and not popped by for ages! I'm so sorry, it's just I've not really been in the mood for blogger / being creative and then I got bogged down with DT commenting.

Now that I've stepped down from a couple of DT's and I feel a bit creatively inclined I think you'll have to put up with more of my waffling!!

Fabby buys there, by the way, wish the charity shops around here had anything half as good!!!

Hope you have a good weekend and 'see' you soon!

Sarah
