WOYWW 171

It's time for a gander at all the crafty workdesks  around the world  Thse sneak peeks can be found at the lovely Julia Dunnitt's blog http://stamping-ground.blogspot.ca/  Stop in and leave her a comment and then go on to check out all the creative desks.

My desk is looking a little bare but don't let that fool you. I have been cleaning and reorganizing the set up of my room. I have been working on the redo for several weeks...but got slowed down with the tedious sorting that accompanies such tasks.

My back surgery is finally confirmed for Oct 1st. This is such great news as I am fed up with being slowed down. I am tired of being in pain all the time and look forward to this journey to regain my "old life".  I'll be in hospital 3 to 6 days and then 6-8 weeks of recovering.   I will be up and walking that first day!

So I am busy changing up my room as I won't be able to bend or lift for several weeks. I have placed 8 shoe boxes along the right side of my counter...the side I rarely show you as it is always piled high with stuff to be filed! Considering that this space is supposed to a spot for guests to work at, it seems fitting that I have finally cleared it off!

I have filed away all that,  and more...and I have filled 2 shoe boxes with the bits and bobs for the wedding album I have been working on. I plan to have the iris box with the card stock and patterned paper for the wedding pages sitting out over there as well.
2 more shoe boxes are full of Xmas bits and  bobs as I hope to churn out some Xmas cards.

The big brown woven  basket is full of cardstock and patterned paper Xmas themed. I even have a set of photos of last years  Xmas tree and Xmas decorating...so may be I can get a couple of Xmas  layouts polished off as well.

Lastly I leave you with my ribbon masterpiece. I used to roll my ribbon and store it in jars on my counter. You can still see a few jars full of rolled ribbon on the counter that I have not ironed yet...as I have run out of the tag holders:(

It isn't working out for me as I can't read  the words on printed ribbon, nor see the whole pattern on some printed ones. So I spent hours unrolling it, ironing each piece and then weaving it through ribbon tags.
I sorted by themes and the remainder by colour. For now, I have stored all the tags on shower curtain hooks as I had an unused set. I am going to hang them all on cup hooks installed just above eye level on the closet wall under the stairs. That closet is accessed from my scrapbook room and already is used for scrapbook storage. They will fit in there quite nicely. When I need some ribbon, I will just grab the colour ring that I need and bring it to my desk to fine tune selecting which particular ribbon to choose.
By next week I hope to have layouts of my garden in those frames up on the wall. Then I won't have to tape paper over the people in the photos every time I want to take a picture of my counter...lol
See you next week!

Well you have worked really hard to get yourself organised and it will certainly make it easier to craft after your surgery. It looks fab now.
Good luck and I hope it goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

First and foremost, good luck with the back surgery. Secondly, good to see how organised you are. That is wonderful that you have been able to organise yourself so that you can still craft when you come out of hospital. Don't overdo it though an listen to what they tell you you can and cannot do. (We learn through our own mistakes)
Take care.

I love your ribbon organisation! So much work but it looks totally worth it, I bet you will save loads of time now when you come to find that perfect ribbon for your latest make!

Thanks for visiting my work desk, the copics really are a learning curve, a steep one at that! £2.30 is the best price I could find for the ciao, the sketch markers are around £6, but I'm used to paying £1.50 for a promarker. Plus there are sooo many more copic colours, it's hard to resist them all ;)

I did something similar with bags on those hangers in the grocery store that hang off the shelves (mine just throws them away so easy to get) but I like your idea better. I think I need to find that box of curtain rings I know is in the airing cupboard....RIGHT NOW!

Hi Maureen, I've popped back to say thank you for your comment on my blog and have just written down the exact details of your surgery so I can pray specifically on it for you.
It's funny how yours is the day before my cataract surgery on 2.10.12 signs of wear and tear, ay??
.. but at least we live where such things can be dealt with which is a great mercy indeed! take care, every rich blessing from God and His keeping on 1.10.12 esp. Shaz in Oz.x

Gosh, you have indeed been busy. I'm so impressed at how organised and tidy your room looks - puts mine to shame though I do have a purge and clear up pretty often. I like how your shoe boxes look so streamlined and as I have some ribbon stored in a similar way too - that's all the ribbons that are not on spools - and it's great because you can see at a glance what's there.

It's a while yet, and I'm sure we will be 'talking' before then, but good luck with the operation and I wish you a speedy recovery - I expect you'll be dancing the Gay Gordons before too long.

Happy WOYWW and I hope you have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #12

How lush are all those ribbons!Well, it certainly looks like your reorganisation has paid off because it looks absolute fab. It just reinforces the fact that I really do need to do something in my room.
It’s not a great prospect to have major surgery looming on the horizon but hopefully it will do the trick and you will be pain free at long last.

Drop by my blog and you may be lucky in my birthday blog candy draw…………whatever it turns out to be!

Happy Crafting!

Look at at that lovely organized room, great cupboard space you've got. Fingers crossed that the op goes well for you and that you're soon pain free. I was born with an almost straight spine so I have to be careful in what I do otherwise it hurts, but luckily I don't need to have surgery for it.

Me again. Yes I volunteer at the garden centre. I don't have a work visa for here so I'm not allowed to work yet.
The houses are ostentatious and I'm sure the owners love it. Everyone to their own taste eh?
Thanks for visiting

Looking really good. I know between major scrapping from a kit, I have to do a full clean up to reinspire my creativity. Can't continue to create if too messy.

oh my, you have done a lot of work! It all looks great.
Hope the surgery goes well. My sister had a back op last year and followed the drs intructions to the letter. Even as to how many days she had to get up a certain way, even when she felt she could actually do more, she didn't and she has never looked back. She feels like a 16 year old. Another friend pushed herself too much too soon and has had to hjave a series of ops afterwards, so my only advice is:LISTEN!!!!! to what the doc says!
Happy belated WOYWW!

Nothing like getting yourself set and ready for the surgery and well everything does need to be in the right place just to make sure you don't hurt yourself crafting. Good luck with the op, it is amazing the results the surgeons get these days.

Oh you have an amazing craft area.

Wow!! Your room is looking awesome!! It's such a great feeling! Sometimes I wonder whether it's crafting that I like, or organizing the crafting supplies, even more!!

Sorry to hear you're going to be down for so long with your back, but hopefully, you'll be good as new in 6 - 8 weeks after! I've had back and neck problems for YEARS, and it's no fun. I'm so happy to hear you'll be fixing yours!
