Another Chocolate Bar Card

Finished up another Kids Christmas Card. The corrugated card base is folded twice at the top, creating a bit of extra depth...just right for sliding a chocolate bar or an envelope of Hot Chocolate inside.
This will go to a little boy, maybe even the little boy next door. I made his sister's already...it was the blue mug of hot chocolate card I posted in August. This one has a decidedly masculine feel so should be just right for this little guy.

I know you all must be surprised to see ribbon on this card. I rarely use ribbon myself although I do love it on others cards. Mostly because I never remember to put it on until it is too late! I like to wrap the edges under something to anchor them. That takes planning...lol

So my new thing is to try and include a piece of of ribbon when I choose the bits and bobs to create my card. Hopefully this new process will help me to remember to use it! I do have a lot of ribbon and brought even more back from England. So expect to see ribbon in use here!

This card went together easily. It uses up more dollar store chipboard elements that I have had for a few years. I am trying to use up some of those items that perhaps a cardmaker would not love to see on her card...but a kid would love! The bigger the better...right? I even managed to use up another of the teensy kraft flowers...Bonus!
I also roughed up the edges of the DP on this card, to give it a bit of a rugged look. Kind of in keeping for a masculine card.

Recipe
Card base - square corrugated card and envelope, from my stash (Michael's Recollections)
Cardstock - snippets of dark green and kraft from my stash
DP - MME
Dies - Quickcuts corner die
Punch - Martha Stewart snowflake and Martha branch
Poinsettia - from my stash, Scrapbook Sally poinsettias
Ribbon - from my stash (eons old) maker unknown
Bling - red pearls from my stash
Brad - red brad from my stash

I am entering this card in the following challenges
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets
2. CHNC Extra - must be Christmas
3. MFP Speedy TV Christmas Card Club - must be Christmas
4. Sister Act - always anything goes
5. CHNC -  Challenge 141, Layer it up
6. The Glory Of Christmas - Anything Goes # 15

The ribbon you've used is so decorative, and I like that it also adds a Christmas sentiment to your card. The Santa image is so fun, and I like the layout too!

Fabby card Mo....perfect for a little guy....especially love that there's room for a chocolate bar - brilliant idea! Hope you're settled back into normal life/routine! Rebecca's worn out every day, her school day is an hour longer than before & she has to walk twice as far...but on the plus side, she loves it once she's there!

Hi Mo, I wouldn't be surprised if you've forgotten who I am it's been so long since I commented on your blog!

I apologise for the lack of comments, especially when you've still been leaving lovely comments for me. Still I'm nearly back to an even keel and got some sort of routine going now that my Emily is back at school.

I won't try and comment on all the posts I've missed (it just shows me how lax I've been that I've missed so many!). But I will say it looks / sounds like you had a fabulous holiday over here and your cards are as lovely as ever.

Best wishes,
I'll be back soon
Sarah

Hmmn! Chocolate and a lovely card. Me likes that idea! I do likes a bit of ribbon on my cards too, but I tend to be a bit tight with it as I like to hoard it, though I am a little better than I was!

Real fun card Mo, and everything goes together so well! You know I adore ribbon and use it loads so it's always picked out at the same time as I choose my papers.

This is super for both CHNC challenges, Maureen. You could also share this lovely card for The Glory of Christmas challenge 15: 'anything goes' - I'd love to see it there too, Hazel, Glory of Christmas DT. Hope to see you again soon. x

Oh, I _do_ like your ribbon. Chuckled when reading that, because I am the same. Love to see it, forget to use it until it's too late to add it. Really liked this cheery card, and your little neighbor boy will too, I'm certain. I especially liked your scalloped corners. The dp was so pretty, and your ribbon was just perfect on this one. I'm the same with ribbon. By the time I remember ,the front like you is stuck down firmly to the card. I like your father Christmas on this one. That's another thing I keep forgetting to use . Kraft paper/corrugated. Got loads of it as well!! Hugs Mrs A.
