I had a stamped card started and needed to sit down and colour the image but our furnace broke and I spent all of Saturday morning on the phone trying to get a repairman to come out. We are in the midst of heavy snow, with the roads in very poor shape. I then spend the rest of the afternoon huddled under a blanket near the fireplace! Of course furnaces and major appliances only break down on weekends...when labour rates are in overtime setting. Two hours work to fix it and $440 dollars for the labour alone. Oh my!
After all that, I decided to make a much easier card. I broke into my Never Before Used Stash (NBUS), and chose this Hunky Dory, Adorable Scorable Christmas Church card kit.
I decoupaged the layers for the scene but decided not to use the card provided with the kit. It seemed the wrong size for the image and I did not like the sheen on the paper finish.
I used one of my scalloped square cards instead and used a First Edition, Christmas Wishes DP for the background. I always love the First Edition 6x6 stacks. I wish I owned every one!

Hi there Maureen, goodness what an expense to lay out, but you need your heating, especially if you're having deep snow,BRRR!

Much as I like the quality of the Hunkydory kits I too find the whole kit can be a bit overbearing. Love how you have added to your own design with the first addition papers (another love of mine) and the scalloped card. A perfect card. Glad to hear you managed to get your furnace fixed. I just love that image as it's so what Christmas used to be like when I was a child.

Furnaces seem to know when it's the worst weather and act up. Air conditioners have the same trait! Glad you were able to stay warm by the fireplace, and design your card while cuddled under a blankie. I love this wonderful old church image, in the vintage shades with the blast of color in the corner. And the background paper - lovely! I'm not familiar with First Edition, but this paper is such a pretty one, with a shade that would blend easily with many top designs & colors! Glad you have heat now too. TFS & Hugs

Love your card, it's a gorgeous image and the pop of colour on the flowers really lifts the sepia tones of the rest of the image. Carol x

I had furnace problems too Maureen! Mine was back in January and the poor guy that came to work on it came 3 days in a row with the last day coming twice. Nothing was wrong with the furnace and he was getting frustrated because nothing was wrong with it. I have a very old furnace, 60+ years old! But he said it was a good furnace and to keep it since nothing was wrong with it. So what was the problem you ask?? He had to tape something together because when the furnace kicked on it would move and it couldn't ignite a spark! Good grief! And would you believe I have yet to receive a bill for his time?!!! Very nice man! Glad you are able to have some warmth by the fireplace. It never fails though, these things break at the most worst times!! OMGosh, this card was easier?!!! This is stunning Maureen!
