Under the Sea - Card 37

We had a couple days away visiting our good friends who live up on the Sunshine Coast of BC.
We drive for about an hour to get to Horseshoe Bay and then take a 40 minute ferry ride up the coast. Once on land again,we drive along the ocean for another hour till we reach their village.

Perhaps it was all that time at the ocean's edge but I seem to be on a roll with making water themed cards ever since! Here is the first of my Under the Sea themed cards.

The image was coloured with Stampin' Up chalks and a Qtip. The colour is really over the lines but I am pretending that it is supposed to look like a watercolour!!!    lol

The sand dollar is a die cut that I chalked as well,  but in keeping with my efforts to reduce my stash, the sea shells are little bits that I prised off  some old dollar store scrapbook borders.  I have been working away at using up those old borders as they are so hopelessly out of style for my scrapbooking. They are 3 dimensional and do have some lovely glittering edges, so work out well for cards.
Here is a close of of their glistening edges...

The design papers are just snippets from my scrap files. The blue weathered woodgrain DP is the last snippet of this paper. I can't remember the name of it so if anyone recognizes it, let me know.
I added the pearls as they are another thing associated with under the sea!

****************This is card 37 of  50. I have been on a consumables spending freeze until I made 50 cards (Sook Wang tape and heavy weight card stock exempt).***************

Recipe
Card base - from my stash
DP - snippets from my stash
Image Stamp - Stampin' Up
Sentiment Stamp - Tim Holtz
Dies - Sand dollar is an accucut from the scrapbook store free use trays (from my stash)
Embellishments - seashells are dollar store borders cut apart (from my stash)
Bling - Pearls from my stash

I am entering this card in the following challenges
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets

Your chalks are WON-derful. The smudging did indeed look like soft watercolor. Love that woodgrain paper..looked like it had been crackled when I first saw it. Enjoyed reading about all the how-to-s, and you are simply amazing at using up the bits & pieces. And the bargain finds! This is one lovely card. Glad you had a good visit with your friends and got to enjoy what sounded a very scenic drive. Take care. TFS & Hugs

This is such a sweet underwater scene card, Maureen! I do like this chalk coloring style, a bit rough around the edges, I think that it adds charm to this little crab! The seashell border and pearls are great finishing touches!

Hi Mo, how the devil are you?
I love your card....this is going to sound so wrong but I have a "thing" about crabs!
Strange, but there is a good reason, stemming from my Navy days.
Love your layout and beachy theme, just perfect.

Hugs and happy crafting, Erika. x
