Snippet cards

Seems I never have enough generic cards on hand. You know the type...the ones that do not have a sentiment and that could suit any occasion.

I always need that type of card when I mail out the Rudolph Days Challenge prizes. I was doing a bit more organizing in my craft room and found just that type of card! Little Miss C and I took a class last year at the local papercrafts shop. We made 8 or 10 cards each. Most had sentiments but luckily, this design was left sentiment free.

Here is a photo of 2 cards we made from this snippets type design.

The class had us make all the cards from the same coordinating papers. So the banners on this card well suited using up the slim leftover snippets of DP. There was one piece  of DP that had wee circles of design. We punched those out to add to the banner border and  pop dotted some of them forward...just to give a bit of depth and for some impact.

The butterfly was die cut from a snippet of textured card and the addition of some teensy rhinestones finished it off. The white background mat was embossed with a sort of damask pattern.

I promptly allocated mine to the Rudolph Days drawer and quickly purchased the other from Little Miss C. She was delighted to have sold a card before we even left the store!  I am trying to build up my stash of generic cards...so I may just make up a few of these and use up more snippets by doing so.

Let There Be Peace

Today's Christmas card had a very humble beginning. This whole card was designed around my desire to use up a piece of this pretty DP!  It just might be a Wild Rose Studio DP...I need to somehow label my snippets to know exactly! lol

I love the pattern and colours in this DP but they are unusual colours for me to use. Green, red, and purple!  Since I have a few friends who LOVE purple, I decided to try to  make that the predominant shade, so matted the image and the card base with purple cardstock.

The image is a bit of a change from my usual Momento black images. I must confess that even though do own lots of embossing powders, I rarely remember to use them!

I heat embossed this pretty Dove of Peace with a silver embossing powder. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but once matted with the purple paper, it seemed a bit lost on the card. I peeled off the mat and added an inner mat of distressed silver metallic card, and then added the purple mat back on.  Did the same for the sentiment although had to use a snippet of a different type of silver mirri card. There just was not enough of the distressed silver mirri card leftover from the larger image mat!

 No lumpy embellishments here...instead a nice and easy card to mail as it is very slim in depth.

With all that is going on in the world at the moment, it felt good to use this Dove Of Peace.

November Rudolph Days Winner and Extra Prize Winner

The November Rudolph Days Challenge ended with a record number of entries. 69 to be precise!
I am very pleased that so many took the time to enter the challenge and participate in the fun here.

Hope you all enjoyed the wee bit different format that I used this month. It is the last challenge of the year and deserved to be celebrated.  We will of course, return to our regular challenge format, starting January, 2016.

This month we had an extra prize for anyone who left a comment on my November 2oth and 25th posts. I printed off the comments from both posts and cut out each comment to use as the entry.
I tossed them in a container and drew one out.
