January Rudolph Days Challenge

Hi there. Once again, it is time for the Rudolph Days Challenge. Here are the rules for your perusal...

2. The theme is always Anything Goes, as long as it is Christmas.
3. One entry per person and you just need to enter one Christmas card or Christmas project.
4. You may combine your entry with other challenges (maximum of 10 in total).
5. Your card (or Christmas project) should not have been previously posted to your blog. It should be posted to your blog during the current months Rudolph Days Challenge, (between the 25th and last day of the current month)
6. Please link back to or at least mention, the Rudolph Days Challenge.
7. Please leave a comment on the challenge post.
8. The winner will be selected by random draw and announced on the first day of the following month. Prizes will be mailed anywhere in the world.

9. A special draw will be held at the end of the year, in December,  for all those who submitted a card or project every month that year, January to November.

Our design team ladies have been busy creating lots of inspiration for you!

First up is Linda at A Snail's Space blog

Linda has made us this lovely card where the design paper is echoed by the pretty die cut  holly and berries accents. Love that look!  The Merry Christmas is a beautiful script, don't you agree?

I hope you will pop across to Linda's blog and read about how she made this card and then leave her some love!

My card is up next. I have set myself a goal to test my skills and try out some new techniques in 2020. This card contains one of them. I wonder if you can guess just what it is. I think it does not reveal at a glance...but....maybe!

This card was a make and take at my local paper crafts store. The background paper was chosen as it had the potential to look like a winter sky. It is actually a beige and ivory Design paper that has a little greeny blue distress oxide added to the edges to give a more realistic coloured sky.
The trees are die cuts and I added art glitter glue and glitter to them to mimic snow. A torn piece of white card creates a snowy ground for the Penny Black die cut truck to rest on. I added more glue and glitter to the truck to create snow there as well.
The new technique is a wobbler. I have never used one before. I LOVE them and will be using many more of them this year. I bought a package of the medium and also one of the small size.

I did mention new techniques...so here is another. That same paper crafts store had a Tim Holtz clock frame make and take, perfect  for a winter scene. A scalloped circle of snowflake design paper forms the background for the scene.  I then built up a white glitter card hill of wee houses, and then a silver mirri card hill of the same. A final row of a white glitter card treed hill finished off the scene, . These hills were layered into the frame and a generous amount of frosty jagged fine beads that look like rocks were added to loosely hide the bottom edges. A Penny Black curved white glitter card leavy die cut was glue dotted to the front of the frame with a die cut silver glitter card JOY sentiment across the bottom front.

Fine wired micro mini lights are fitted into the space at the back of the frame and the  finishing tough is a  snippet of white tulle and some white woven glittery ribbon,  tied to the top of the clock frame.

I enjoyed this so much that I picked up a distressed looking  real clock at Walmart. I am going to pull the clock apart and use the empty frame to create a different scene for the various seasons.

Our prizes this month are a choice of this Australian Paper Roses Reindeer scene Frame,

or this Studio Light Essentials Reindeer stamp.

So welcome to a new year of Rudolph Days Challenges. Here is Mr Linky, so you know what to do!!!

Great to see you and the DT back for a new year of Christmas crafting Mo and love Linda's pretty holly and large sentiment, then your beautiful red pickup with the tree in the back and lots of accompanying trees in the background and wow, your gorgeous alarm clock with all the detail houses and trees within and so wonderful when lit up...a masterpiece Mo and can't wait to see what you do with the real one you've bought. x

Wow Maureen, that clock project is just spectacular!! don't often make 3-D projects as they never seem to work out for me but I can admire a beautifully done make..and this is fabulous. The truck card is also a favorite and I am impressed with how much that background looks like a winter sky. Just shows how adding a bit of ink here and there can transform a patterned paper.
Even with Christmas just over, I always keep my Christmas stamps and papers out so I can work on them all year round. Thanks for motivating us to keep at it!

Fabulous card by Linda with a great technique ... left her some love on her blog. Your card is awesome Maureen! Love the sweet winter scene with truck. I bet it is so fun to wobble! :) I have not tried those yet. Your clock is AMAZING! I love the scene you've created and the lights are the piece de resistance! Playing along this year. Love getting Christmas cards done ahead. Thanks for all your hard work running this challenge, Maureen! xx

Beautiful inspiration by you and Linda!! Love the wonderful cards. You even used a wobbler for the truck. Hilarious and perfect...the roads around here in rural Idaho eat vehicle suspensions. Ha! I adore your altered alarm clock!! How gorgeous.
Thank you for starting us off on another year of fun and inspiration with your Rudolph Days Challenges.

It;s tough to get back into the Christmas card habit in January. That's usually why I never get to post in December because I've missed a month or two. But I'm going to make the effort this year. Love the inspiration. My card is very out of character for me. But it was fun!
