WOYWW #165

This week has flown by...it hardly seems a full week since we last peeked into the desks of all the crafty lads and lasses...Pop into Julia's blog to get this weeks sneak peeks.    http://stamping-ground.blogspot.ca/                                                                  Wow...that rhymes! No desk photo's of my desk today...I was over with my grandchildren all day so instead, I am sharing a picture of the "desk" Little Miss C and I used today. I was under strict instructions that she wanted to create some more cards.

All this cardmaking interferes with little Mr P's plans for the day. Usually he has Grandma all to himself on Tuesdays. During the school year, Tuesdays are his day off preschool. We have a little routine of Starbucks for a cookie and small sized hot chocolate, a huge coffee for Grandma and then a walk home to play board games after lunch!

Having his sister home all day, every day,  for a couple of months, has thrown a monkey wrench into the board games!  Today's new routine, consisted of cardmaking  from what felt like dawn to lunchtime, a trip to Starbucks for all of us, and then home for the board games. Was he disappointed when she raced off to her room to play with her hampster and it was just he and I for Mousetrap. I had to remind him the game would last longer with just 2 players and then he was happy. He was even happier when he won!!!

Enough nattering...here is what little Miss C created today...

Although she won't be 6 till mid-October, she is very arty. She is quite good at concentrating for long periods of time and takes pride in doing things well. I am always impressed at her endurance when we paper craft together.

I got the idea of purchasing watercolour paper thank you card packs  at Michaels. I think they are 8 for $1.50  The card base is lightweight but not too bad, and it is completely flat sheen with a wee bit of texture to the card.

She places 3 dimensional stickers from the Dollar Store onto the card fronts, chalks the edges and carefully slides the finished cards and envelopes into a little acetate sleeve and puts a wee price tag of $1.50 each (now that's a entrepreneur...making 8 times the cost).

She wants to put them in the craft fair her mom is organizing... but so far, they mostly sell fairly quickly after she finishes them:) I think she has made over 20 so far...
I think the cutest thing is that she likes assembling them into the sleeves and sticking on the wee tags just as much as making them.

Scrapbook Garage Sale Haul

I have mentioned in my last couple of posts about the great bargains I found at the Clipper Street Scrapbook Garage Sale. I grabbed a ton of  12x12 patterned paper @ 12 sheets for a dollar and a bunch of odds and sods that I thought I would share with you today.
First up was Christmas in July!  I got 3 lengths of these yummy black velvet, Xmas ornaments. for a dollar. They are already adhesive backed.  I plan to fussy cut them out for cards. Beside them is a package of black and white journalling cards and words etc, also a dollar.

Next up are some cute Xmas stamps...sorry about the glare but I wanted you to see the prices. I fell in love with that first whimsical Stampendous Snowman and sentiment for $1.50

Merry and Bright from Imaginesce was only 25 cents and although I probably paid too much for Kissy Kissy (one dollar), that cute little reindeer just jumped into my basket!.

 Little Miss C will be gong into Grade One and Mr P will be in preschool each day. I couldn't resist these printing alphas for 10 cents. The school days tablet of journal cards and the little boy book of tickets were a dollar each.

The Spook Alley words were 25 cents, the Mellissa Frances vintage, ivory resin shapes were 50 cents. The shabby chi,c flat sheen, hinge stickers as well as the glittery flowers were only 10 cents.

The little leaf branch punch was a dollar, the kaiser tag book 25 cents, the chipboard travel accents one dollar,  and the lilac and green sewn edging and the matching tag beside it, were 25 cents.

My final treasures were these glassine bags. Fifty of the smaller bags were 50 cents, and a hundred of the larger size were one dollar. They are for my oldest daughter, Glamour Girl. She will use them for her handmade jewelry. The small ones should be perfect for earrings, and the larger size for bracelets or necklaces.

Favourite sports?

Do you have a favourite sport?

I sure do...but not the way you would think!

My favourite sports are golfing, fishing and boating. Maybe you are thinking that I am a sporty kind of girl...well, you would be WRONG!!!

I love those sports because my husband likes to go fishing, boating and go off to play golf with his buddies. He is still best friends with his original buddies from elementary school and luckily they share a love of the same sports.

While hubby is off getting some exercise with his pals,  I can get in some paper crafting...so...yes...
I LOVE those sports!!!

These past few months have been a bit of a dry spell for paper crafts as he was not strong enough to golf, etc. He is finally up to a bit of golfing out of a cart, on a good day. Prior to the heart attack and the diabetes, he always prided himself on walking the course and even carried his golf bag...no dragging or pushing a wheelie cart for him. Now, it's playing out of a cart with a wee snack bag tucked into his golf bag, in case his blood sugars drop!

Today, while he was off with his buddies, I managed to get a birthday card finished. It has a golf theme and will probably go to one of his pals on their birthday.

Wasn't quite sure about the golden circle behind the birthday sentiment. I was going to score sunshine rays coming out to the left on the green cardstock. I thought it would look reminiscent of sunshine on the golf course.but that idea was kyboshed by the fact that the green cardstock is heavily textured and the rays looked strange. Then I remembered I had some wavy, circular rays of sunshine in my stash drawer...they have been filed away for over 10 years...Extras from a tropical, Hawaii scrapbook album that I finished up long ago!  Good thing I am not a paper purger as I was able to locate them right away. A little judicious trimming with the scissors and it slid right behind my sentiment circle. Finally, I had my sunshine.

With the exception of the argyle paper, all the other bits used today, are from my stash and well over a year old. (Some more than others...teehee). The argyle came from a  6x6 paper pad of My Minds Eye, Lime Twist, that I picked up at the infamous Clipper Street Scrapbook Store garage sale last weekend. I kind of think it is still using stash...it just used to be someone else's stash!!! Best of all...It was only 2 dollars for the whole pad.  Yay... how I love a bargain!
