Christmas Decor

I had a few ask me to show the Red Truck Christmas decor theme that we used for Christmas Supper 2018.

Here is a long shot of the dining table.  Now I know that paper napkins are not usual for a fancy feast, but these were so perfect for our theme, that we threw caution to the wind.

Here is a side view that shows the centerpiece better...it also shows the gorgeous Wexford glass that my daughter collects. She has a dozen of each size glass and numerous serving pieces as well as a beautiful  punch bowl set. We all comb the thrift shops for this pattern for her!

The red truck centerpiece is sitting on a white heavy felt snowflake from the dollar store. We also used smaller, thicker left snowflakes for coasters under the water glasses.

I added stickers from Target to the Christmas crackers...

And finally, here is a shot of the place cards I made with an Impression Obsession die...

If we could have managed to slide a wee red truck into the table favours, we would have! They are the wee glass baubles with the single tree and snow in them in the foreground of the photo above.

The silver snowflakes are salt and pepper shakers and seemed to tie in with the coasters etc.

Christmas Supper was at my youngest daughters house this year. She also had a gorgeous light up red truck and tree picture hung in the dining area. It looked fabulous! But I forgot to take a photo.

I nearly posted the names tags and the crackers as my inspiration for the Rudolph Days Challenge this month as you do not have to submit a card. It can be any Christmas project.

You have several days to still enter the challenge so hope to see you there.

March Rudolph Days Challenge

Time for the March Rudolph Days Challenge. As always, here are the rules for your perusal...

1. The Rudolph Days Challenge will start each month (January to November) on the 25th, and will close at midnight PST, on the last day of that month.
2. The theme is always Anything Goes, as long as it is Christmas.
3. One entry per person and you just need to enter one Christmas card or Christmas project.
4. You may combine your entry with other challenges (maximum of 10 in total).
5. Your card (or Christmas project) should not have been previously posted to your blog. It should be posted to your blog during the current months Rudolph Days Challenge, (between the 25th and last day of the current month)
6. Please link back to or at least mention, the Rudolph Days Challenge.
7. Please leave a comment on the challenge post.
8. The winner will be selected by random draw and announced on the first day of the following month. Prizes will be mailed anywhere in the world.

9. A special draw will be held at the end of the year, in December,  for all those who submitted a card or project every month that year, January to November.

Jenny has made us this gorgeous, shimmery white card with beautiful pops of navy blue accent  colour.  If you enlarge this card you will see the gorgeous shimmer even more so.

The flowers are so lovely here and look good setting off the wee snowman scene Jenny has created.
I know you will want to pop over to her blog and leave her some praise for this beautiful card. Jenny always finishes the inside of her cards too, so you will get a double treat!

And now for me...
My cards this month are so plain in comparison to Jenny!

I chose to upcycle two cards. I usually do this with cards I receive, but in this case I bought two boxes of new cards and envelopes at our local Home Sense clearance. At $1.00 a box, I could not resist.
I then cut the front of the cards off and trimmed down the images to a usable card making topper size.

Both cards were made from my snippets boxes. The first card with its vintage green truck was kept very simple. You have seen the diagonal glitter striped background many times before as I bought a dozen or more sheets many, many years ago when it was on clearance.  I have never regretted that purchase and in fact I love this paper so much that I save every scrap to reuse!

The burlap ribbon as well as the red scalloped felt ribbon are from Michael's, and were also purchased a few years ago.  I love the felted ribbons as they do not need to wrap around a piece of card stock to hide the fraying end. You just slice through with scissors or your cutter and they never fray or look at all raggedy. I think it was purchased on clearance, just after Valentines one year.

A simple black mat behind the topper image and this card was done!

My second card is made up of the red truck and Christmas tree topper. I was so excited to find this image as our family chooses a Christmas decor theme for the for the following year, while we are savoring our desert and coffee after a big Christmas supper. Last year we chose a red truck and live Christmas tree in the truck box as our theme.
I originally bought these new cards to use framed, or perhaps even as name tags on the table. but we seemed to find a plentitude of red truck themed items so these were not needed after all! |Off to the craft room they went and were fair game to be sliced up!!!

Once again I used my snippets boxes and found the red DP which I thought looked sort  of like hounds tooth or even plaid at a glance. The black plaid seemed to call our to be included and the kraft snowflake seemed to fit into the masculine feel of this card. Added a bit of bakers twine to the snowflake for a little punch of colour.

Prizes this month are a choice of this Sue Wilson Industrial Chic die

or this Studio Light Winter Trails background stamp
(Both prizes were chosen for their masculine feel as I felt they were a good choice for my masculine cards this month).

Feb. Rudolph Days Winner

We are back from our Mexican cruise, a little tanned and with a new appreciation for Mexico. We had never been there before and we found the countryside we saw to be very clean and beautiful. The people we met there were all very friendly.

My husband bartered with a few vendors and brought back various tee shirts and baseball hats. I managed not to have anything catch my eye. I was hoping to find a paper shop and pick up some little embellishments to scrapbook with, but we never managed to find one!

We did however manage to pick up a cold flu bug so I did not even venture across the gangplank at our last three Mexican stops. Al came down with it after he went ashore on our last port call in Mexico. We have spent our first day home resting and recuperating together.

Thanks for all the lovely cards, emails and facebook messages for my birthday. I turned 65 today and it sure is a milestone. My first pension cheque from my former employer was deposited today and it felt great to see it!

Now, back to the challenge

Once again, I have used Random Org to choose the winner, who is Carol L #16.

Drop me an email Carol, to maureenkane@telus.net and let me know whether you would like the stamp or the die.

I will gradually get round to visit all of you, now that I am home again. Thanks so much for my fabulous design team who kept the challenge going even though I was not here.  It will take me a few days, but I will visit all your cards and leave some praise!
