Christmas Card Club - Baubles

Our own lovely Dutchess (Margaret) chose baubles for the theme of  this fortnight's Christmas Card Club.

When I first joined this club another member mailed me some beautiful Christmas images. So kind of her! She has since retired from our card club but I used one of her gifted images and had some lovely memories of a generous friend.

Not sure of the manufacturer of this stamp but I like the delicate look of it. I got a wee bit carried away with colouring the poinsettia flowers in red copics, and then realized that I had coloured the leaves red as well! Sigh...Oh well, it is now an arty card...at least that is my excuse!

I also managed to get a droplet of red on the diecut shape I had cut the image with. So it was up to my trusty fussy cut scissors to save the day. After fussy cutting the image, I was on a roll and did the same for the silver pearlescent mat and then again for the red mat.

I went over the Holly with a silver Wink Of Stella pen and then went over everything else with a clear WOS. I figured that if the colours weren't right, at least they were sparkly!

When I coloured this image, I knew the DP I would choose. I have had this paper for many, many years. It is 12x12 scrapbook paper and the sentiment "Peace" is actually for another page within the same set. It is a page of words only and I carefully cut this one out and matted it with a snippet of red. Both papers have a pearlescent finish and are quite shimmery.

The scalloped card base and envelope was a gift from another British friend, the sister of my cousin's partner. She knew I was looking for this style of cards when I was over visiting last time, and made me a gift of a large packet of them. I must say I hoard them a bit and only use them sparingly as I don't want to run out!!!

Maureen, this is so lovely & serene, with the soft color of the design paper, and the pop of red. Enjoyed reading the backstory, and your fussy cutting created such a pretty design of the main motif. I love the way you've framed it with the red outline too. Well done. TFS & Hugs

Until you mentioned it
I hadn't realised the leaves were red too. As the artist you can do what you like though. I love the result and all your fussy cutting. Hugs Mrs A.

I'm not sure, but could be an image from LOTV? Well, can't spot any faults at all, honestly, it's beautifully sparkly and traditional.

This is my all time favourite LOTV Christmas image and I love different way you have used it.

I love the shimmery background papers with the red Maureen and the fussy cutting of the prettily coloured bauble image. Sometimes it is nice to limit the colour palette and it works so well here. x

Gorgeous card! Don't you just hate when the pen slips (all by itself of course) and colors something you weren't expecting. If you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have been able to tell. Love the sparkle!
