She's a Princess!

Once the girls cards for the baby shower were done and dusted, I needed to make a card from DH and I.
I'm sure you can spy that I used the cupcake liners from the party banner once again! Yes, I pulled out the iron and pressed a couple more of those babies. I am getting my mileage out  of that dollar purchase!

This time I layered two cupcake liners over a snippet of hot pink Bazzil dotted card. I added a hot pink scalloped die with a doily over top. The scalloped circle was to prevent the doily from getting lost in the damask pattern.

Now I had a little giggle here as I found the butterfly I searched for when I made the last card. I did not vacuum it up after all! It was just hiding, wanting to perch on my card instead! I added a pink shimmery chipboard princess sign and tucked three teensy flowers on the bottom left, to give some balance to the butterfly.
Sorry about the picture...I know it is not very straight! Just when I learned how to straighten on my old computer...I am now on windows eight with only the photo editing that came with it... and I have not figured it out yet! lol
The inside of my card is a bit different for me.
The Mum-to-be went to a Catholic, private school with my daughters. I wanted my message to be prayer based but did not want to make any of the other girls feel preached at.   I decided to make the sentiment a hidden message.
I tucked in a tiny envelope and placed the prayer inside. I then signed the back of the prayer!
Here is how it looked...
The little prayer/poem read as follows...

Two little eyes to look at God
Two little ears to hear His Word
Two little lips to sing His praise
Two little feet to walk His ways
Two little hands to do His will

It was from one of my Grandchildren's books and I have always loved those words. The book has a poem/prayer hidden in teensy envelopes on each page.  I decided to steal the idea and go with the envelope system too!

I am entering this card in the following challenges
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets

So glad you found the missing butterfly - it looks great on this sweet cards's front! I think you did such a great job decorating the inside as well - it's actually so well done that it could even be the front of a second card!

Hi Maureen, I'm behind in visitin' yet again! Popped over to enjoy your sweet card. What a wonderful use of a cupcake liner (and aren't you clever to do so!). Loved the delicate doily in the center. So very bright & pretty. I especially loved how you did the interior and thank you for sharing the little prayer. I remember that from childhood myself (we won't say how long ago). A new baby is truly one of God's blessings to a couple. They are also blessed to have a friend make such a lovely, handmade card to celebrate with them in this wondrous occasion. TFS & Hugs

This has got to be the most gorgeous baby card ever! I love the idea of enclosing a prayer in the envelope. Many years from now I imagine this little girl looking through her baby cards and being excited to find something hidden in this card!

Hi ya, what a fabulous card! Love the colour combo and the butterflies are gorgeous!

Have you considered using PhotoScape for your picture editing? Another blogger recommended it to me a couple of years ago and I've used it since. It's easy enough to use and best of all it's free!!!

Beautiful cards, Maureen, and what a sweet little poem!

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog - my legs are gradually improving and I am having rest periods throughout the day. There's still a lot to do in the house, unpacking and sorting everything, and over the past couple of days I've made great progress sorting in my ARTHaven, and although there's stilll a lot to do, I can at least get into the room and identify the separate work zones - I am so looking forward to getting stuck in in there, and start creating again!!

Love that you take the time to iron out the cupcake liners, waste not want not :) The making of a pocket in which to put a hidden message is so clever that I must do that for those cards I send to the youngsters in my family. They will love it. Fabulous card Mo!
