Christmas Card Club - Texture
This fortnight Rachel of Fischer's Cards and Crafts blog has chosen a texture theme for our Christmas Card Club. I do not have any stencils or stencil paste, so had to make do with what was on hand. Decided to make my texture from a hunk of hessian and some liberally applied chalk paint that I enhanced with a bit of glitter and drywall compound.
The Christmas CArd Club members are on my right sideboard...If you pop by to take a look at their creations you will not be disappointed.
Withour further adieu, here is my card...
And here is the inside...
The Old:
The hunk of hessian (burlap) is my VOS item. I bought a huge roll of this years ago. The plaid mat is from a box of prefolded 5x7 Christmas cards and envelopes, that I bought in the after Xmas bargains a couple of years ago. I love the plaid, but the card weight was too light to suit me so I sliced them apart, cut them down, and now use them for 5x5 mats.
The dark green mat is from my scrapbooking snippets files.
The inside sentiment is my very old favourite Xmas sentiment rubber stamp.
The New
The Wellington Bear decoupage image, the inside topper, and the sentiment, are from a kit I picked up before Christmas, at my local papercraft store. It is a marvelous kit, full of toppers, decoupage pages, DP and embellies. I think I will be able to make at least two dozen cards with it!
I made the texturized "snow" from Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, glitter and a wee touch of drywall compound!
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Christmas Card Club - texture
2. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets
You really did a wonderful job! Love that big comfortable chair which spells Christmas to me!

Saw so many cards with such excellent texture (and this one is no exception) and thought "now why didn't I think to do that?". Love the roughness of the burlap over that wonderful tartan plaid and it's a perfect showcase for this comfy chair with the Santa Teddy & his gifts. A cute focal image with the pretty colors in the mats. This is just darling. Sorry ya'll have been ill, and hope mending is well under way. TFS

A great card for your club - love that chair, I'd like one like that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card with that burlap, and I love the little bear. It looks a lot like Parsnip incognito :)
ReplyDeleteSo late with visiting. Our network connections have been completely haywire with all this windy weather.
ReplyDeleteMobiles have been up and down too. At one point the only signal The Doc could get was if he went out to the top of our road in the rain and even then it kept fading out. Anyway I have connection at the moment and making the best of it. Your card is gorgeous with the hessian (great minds think alike) and the tartan background. I love the decoupaged chair. Hugs Mrs A.
This is beautiful Mo. Don't we get clever when we need to?
ReplyDeleteLove the hessian.
Hugs
