Snippets of a different sort

Whenever possible I try to play over in Pixies Crafty Workshop. There are just a couple of rules...no more than 3 cards submitted per week and you must use snippets.

This is a great way to challenge you to use up some scraps. I used to never give my scrap drawers a  thought and just merrily go along creating more and more "leftover" pieces. Now I check my snippets files before I cut into a new piece of paper. It is amazing how many times you can use these pieces in your card design.

Although my card is totally made of snippets...I only have one snippets of my own used on it...Puzzled?
Well, when our local scrapbook store moved location they had a wonderful clearance sale. They had card kits, and even random packages of coordinating snippets and stickers etc...all for pennies. I think a paid $1.50 for a huge baggie of this wonderful vintage ornament papers. I think it looks very 1950's. I was born in the 50's so I remember! teehee
But my vintage card as a modern twist as included in the packet was this wonderful chalkboard look sticker and this fab little banner. Funnily enough, I had already bought that sticker sheet with the banner etc and used it on a Penny Black image Christmas card last year. I was so delighted to find it again and get it for such a bargain. Best of all I have enough left for at least a couple more cards.
So the scrapbook stores snippets form most of my card but the teal cardstock is my contribution to the snippets ownership so I have managed to slide into the playground after all.  This is a very simple unadorned card but I like that...I think adding anything else would detract from that nice vintage with a twist feel. An added bonus is that the lack of extra adornment ensures this one is another regular postage card!

  1. Hi Maureen what a fab card! I was convinced the papers were October Afternoon they look just like the type they make sort of retro fifties (my era too, sigh). Love the chalkboard sticker and pennant. You really have a good eye for a bargain! Susan x

  2. How lovely Maureen love the traditional seasonal colours and I am with you on the DP colours reflecting 'that' era.

Do you know I read somewhere the other day that anything from the 50's is now considered vintage so not sure what that says's for the likes of us ?
