Wow! We have over 300 trick or treaters at our house this evening. Most were under 12 years of age and the costumes of the kids (as well as many of the parents) were fantastic. There were some teenagers and they were all so well mannered and polite and bursting with exhuberance. It was great to see them having fun and laughing and giggling.
Sadly, there were several groups of young girls around 8 or 9 years old, who were quite cheeky and disrespectful. One girl grabbed the candy bowl and told me she liked to choose her own and then passed it to her 5 or 6 friends. Another group who looked around 9 years old told me they liked two chocolate bars. I told them I was only giving out one each and they repeated that they would rather have two... Oh my! Needless to mention, their parents were not accompanying them...which is strange in my neighbourhood. Most children are well escorted by parents here...right up to about 12 years old.
On the other hand, I had some of the sweetest toddlers. One tried to give me a chocolate bar. She tried about 5 different times. Another came up to the door, rang the doorbell and told me her age! Several 18 month to two years old kiddies, tried to come into the house....the parents were so embarrassed. I was laughing and leading them back out and they wanted to kiss me goodbye!
Well...back to Rudolph Days. We had 61 entries... that made me so happy! I enjoyed viewing each and every card or Christmas project, and leaving you comments and praise. .
Once again I used Random org to choose the winner
Here is a photo of the winning number, #26 Steffi H.

Congrats to Steffi!
ReplyDeleteYou must have been exhausted after handing out candy to so many trick or treaters. Sounds like a few of them did not really deserve their treats, but I suppose seeing all those other happy faces more than made up for it.

Congratulations Steffi.
ReplyDeleteWow, 300 trick or treaters. We had the grand total of 0, but then we don't celebrate Halloween here in the UK. I did however take part in a Halloween card exchange this year and had 6 beautiful cards up at the moment. Hope you are keeping well. Well done to Steff for being picked this month.

ReplyDeleteKids are always a surprise... :) even those biggest LOL (and they learn how to act from their parents...!)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winner!
Fun challenge and congrats to Steffi
ReplyDeleteCongrats Steffi.
ReplyDeleteWe're in a new neighborhood that's apparently Halloween Central around here. We had about 200 kids, I think. Most were nice, but I think anyone over the age of 12 should't be asking for handouts, and there were several I think must have been well into high school.
wow 61 is a good number Maureen and so interesting to read about your visitors and ahem kids can be quite rude and ill mannered at times and so good you had some adorable visitors too!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers

Congrats Steffi. Hugz
ReplyDeleteCongrats Steffi on your win, and your Halloween sounds as if it was exhausting but fun Mo! The good always seems to overshadow the negative somehow :)
ReplyDeletewow! sounds like a stressful Halloween!
ReplyDeletecongrats to the winner.
Congratulations to Steffi! Thanks for another fun challenge Maureen. My goodness you had a busy Halloween. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteWow!! 300 trick or treaters!! I sadly had none (except for a stray dog that wandered into the yard). I live out of town on top of a hill, so it would take an effort for any to come this way. Nevertheless, I bought a huge bag of candy, just in case ;) Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

I feel bad about the disrespectful kids as it surely put a damper on what was a fun evening for you. One wonders if their parents did not care to go with them or if they were working and the kids are left on their own. There could be circumstances that might have made them act the way they did. Congratulations to Steffi too.
ReplyDeleteWow I can't believe you had that many trick or treaters. It is too bad about the manners of some kids now. I also had some that thought it was ok to take what they wanted but I just held the bowl up so they could not succeed.

Happy Dance day! Enjoy-- Regarding Trick or Treat - we live in a non-soliciting community - however, our church puts on an event called Halloween Rest Stop - we have hayrides and games and Free Hot Chocolate, Coffee, Hot dogs, donut holes, and popcorn for everyone who comes by - one year 1200 hot dogs were given out Kogel's brand if you live in Michigan - it truly was wonderful to serve the community and to bless the people - have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Steffi! We had a great run of TorTs this year, Mo, but no where near the numbers you had!! They were all little ones and just darling and so mannerly. Many voluntarily shouted "Happy Halloween!" It was an absolute pleasure! Last year was the opposite with older kids and more rude than not, even the little ones. Funny how it can change in just one year! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of visitors for Halloween Mo,and a lot of candy! Congratulations to Steffi for winning the lovely prize and so pleased you had lots of entries too. x
