Hedgie Happy Birthday
Here is another of the birthday cards I made for my friend. They were all designed to be given to kids, 4 for boys and 4 for girls birthdays.
Now this little hedgie was coloured before I knew the correct colour of hedgehog. I do not think we actually have them in Canada. I realize now that the belly should be ivory-ish in colour and there should be mostly grey in the spines. WEll...I guess we will just have to pretend this is a Canadian hedgehog!
The image and the green mat were cut with my Wonky Rectangles Spellbinders die. They were assembled a couple of years ago (or maybe even more). I chose the DP based on whether they suited that particular shade of green! The DP used here are my NBUS item. I think they are Studio Basics
It was luck that allowed the wonky part of the matted image to fit on the card so the Blue Happy Birthday words showed as if they had been designed to...I assure you it was sheer luck.
I have been punching stars out of my teensy shippets. Stars in all different colours and sizes. I raided my stash of them and used some here, just for embellishment. I pop dotted the larger blue star for effect.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets (my stars and the green mat are my snippets).
I love this bright and fun card. A super image and design.

Hi Mo, a gorgeous card, love your hedgehog, I also colour mine just like this, never having seen one in real life.. a great use of snippets, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who saves tiny bits of card! Thank you for joining us at Snippets Playground, good luck in the draw... Megan GD
ReplyDeleteCute and colorful hedgie card, love a happy bit of luck, great job xxx
ReplyDeleteA very pretty Birthday card Maureen, I kind of like to colour hedgehogs in browns too, I hope no one takes offence, maybe we can call it artistic freedom :)
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs

Maureen, this is adorable. Colored with the correct colors or not that hedgie is cute. Really love the design of your card. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteAwww this is just so cute! x
ReplyDeleteHedgehogs can be whatever colour you want, artistic licence is a wonderful thing. Your hedgie is very cute. How perfect that it fitted on the card like that x
ReplyDeleteJust adorable Mo, who wouldn't smile when they receive this on their Birthday.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry I missed May Rudolph Days, was in hospital that week for a couple of surgeries and forgot to schedule ahead.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

absolutely amazing!

I think part of the fun of designing cards is we get to carry creative licenses which allow us to take liberties with the colors of hedgies! I think yours is a real cutie-pie, Mo! I chuckled when you commented on the sheer luck of the layout; love it when that happens!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteA super card Maureen, such a cute image and lovely bright and cheerful papers.

oh how absolutely CUTE is that birthday hedgie! I love your stars and spots :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute card, Maureen & I love how the Happy Birthday fit around the Wonky Rectangle! I love that stampers can make images whatever color they want, so your hedgie looks great to me! (I get self-adhesive fun foam at my Hobby Lobby, so it might be available from them on-line. Thermoweb makes it, too, but it's more expensive.) Loved hearing about your mom, Rose--beautiful name. Hugs, Greta
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun card!!
ReplyDeleteI love the bright fun colours!!
Hi Maureen, A gorgeous card with a gorgeous hedgie, love the bright colours and the perfectly placed snippety frame, thank you for coming to play with us in Snippets Playground, good luck in the draw... have a wonderful week... Megan GD
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, this card is just darling Maureen!!! I love the papers you used and I love those stars. Your hedgie is just so cute and I have seen them colored in many different ways, so I don't think it matters that you didn't color him in the correct colors. He is adorable no matter what color he is!!!! People come in all colors, so why can't hedgies?! lol Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThe wonderful thing about stamping is that we can color things however we choose! I think the hedge is wonderful! The background paper is SO cheerful, this make a fantastic card.
ReplyDeleteSo cute - squeal!! I do hope your post arrived BTW, perhaps you're at the lake now?
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, baby hedgies do have brownish prickles and pink tummies! I know that from handling experience when I was given some orphans to rear years ago. So he's perfick! Sometimes, there are even pure white albino hedgies - of course they get to be bullied so I hope we don't get that situation here.
Lovely to see you in the Playground!
Hugs

That is darling!
ReplyDeleteI think your hedgie is just fine, I didn't know they weren't around in Canada. A bright and beautiful card and punching tiny stars is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteFabulous bright and cheerful card, perfect for a child's birthday! Love your Canadian Hedgie too, I hear they're very rare!

In card land cows can be pink and dogs can be purple, and of course the same 'no color rules' apply for hedgehogs. Quite a few in my parents garden over the years. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteToo bad we didn't get to meet, but let you know if any new dates are being planned:)
Well I like your Canadian hedgehog, infact he's super cute and fun as is your card x
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! I love these hedgehogs. So bright and cheery!
ReplyDeleteI love the papers that you used with this fantastic little hedgehog Maureen and the wonky rectangle dies you've used. Jet lags gone and the washing and ironing is all put away, hoping to play in the craftroom tomorrow.
