Time again for the Christmas Card Club. Kate chose the theme Wooly Hats and Gloves.
I had this hand cut and folded acid green card just waiting to be made up. As it was so bright, I decided to use up some muted blue Karen Foster stickers for my card and it seemed from that moment on I could not do anything right! First off, I sliced the bottom third off the tag image while I was cutting the left side strip to size! Yep...just sliced right through the whole sheet,,,what was I thinking.
I decided to make the card up anyways, as my time is very tight this week and did not want to search for more supplies and ideas. I may add a wee bit of real twine to hide that slice mark but sadly I am out of that fine twine at the moment. To finish it off, I popped forward the mitts, hat and the sentiment words.
Then I managed to rumple the left side piece when I affixed it to the card. I cut a second piece to layer overtop and managed to cut it crooked. When I recut the edge straight, I then had the second piece shorter than the first!
Whew! Hopefully the recipient will have had a couple glasses of eggnog before they open this card...lol
I will be unable to access my blog for a week starting early tomorrow. Please excuse my delay in returning visits and comments. I will get back to you just as soon as I am able.
I know we say we are our own worst crtic - but Maureen you seriously are!!! Your card looks fabulous and so vintage-y! Everything looks exactly as if that was the plan and I casn see no problems. I can't see where you sliced though it, can't see where you rumpled it, okay maybe I can see the top layer is a smidge smaller but only because you have pointed it out . It actually looks as though the bottom sticker goes to the bottom of the layer. A really super card, which fits Kate's theme so well. Hugs Christine xx

Oooo am loving the green and muted blue colours and those Karen Foster stickers are gorgeous too, Luv Sam x
ReplyDeleteIt's great to know that I'm not the only person who has these trials and tribulations when creating cards sometimes. There are days when I think 'what is going on?'
ReplyDeleteYour card turned out beautifully though and if you hadn't mentioned the hiccups we wouldn't have guessed as it looks great. I love the bright green and blue combo and those torn edges add a beautiful detail to the design. The images are perfect for Kate's theme too so a fab job.

You know, if you hadn't listed all the problems in making your card I never would have known. Love the vintage look and the torn edged look too. The continuity of th the button and twine throughout just brings it all together. I wouldn't need any eggnog to enjoy this one. :) Have a wonderful week! I hope it's a good busy!
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen, brilliant card, love your design and yep you've got those hats and gloves, just perfect for the theme, thank you Kate x
ReplyDeleteAlways love to hear about the 'saves', and you aced it this time. The green & blue shades are not an idea I would have thought to try, but it really works! Each is so complimentary to the other, and with the images you have on the shaded blue & neutral, it really zings. Think this might be one of your very best ever, and uniquely beautiful!!! And you met the challenge theme just perfectly. TFS & Hugs

It all turned out looking beautiful and as it was what you planned for all along. Some cards are a struggle from start to finish, it happens to all of us, but luckily not that often:)
