Grey Ghost - Round II Card 29

I'm still uncovering forgotten treasures as I sort through more of my room. You will never guess what the circular fish hook image is, on today's card. It is a coaster, kindly given to me by my sister!  A couple of years ago, she sent me a large assortment of fishing and water themed tags, coasters, and other doodads  I tucked them away into one of my shoebox storage units and forgot all about them.

When I was sorting through and filing my precut dies I realized that the largest cog from my Spellbinders cog set, would work for a sort of frame around the coaster. I even had one left over from a previous project.  Presto...suddenly my card design was crystal clear.

A few more snippets, a bit of jute twine, and another masculine card for my finished cards box. I have left it sentiment free as it is more versatile that way. I will add an insert with an appropriate verse, when I finally use it.

Little update on the moving preparations. The movers are booked for Jan 23 and although I had decided not to start packing till well into December, DH has asked me to start now. He suggested I start by packing what I don't routinely use, in the craft room. That way, he can stack a few boxes each day rather than flat out packing and stacking towards the end.  He reminded me that we are both over 60 and it is so easy to get a muscle strain etc if we work flat out.

So today I packed up 18 boxes...all my 8x8 paper and albums, most of my glass jars of flowers etc, and all my shoeboxes of prefolded card and envelopes. I am quite embarrassed to say I have 6 shoeboxes full of the prefolded notecards! I did think about getting rid of those folded cards as the weight is so flimsy, but then decided that if they are cut in half they make great coordinating papers for building card designs. I am such a packrat! lol

He carried all the packed boxes upstairs to the dining room as we will not be hosting any big suppers till we move. I personally do not like the look of boxes all over the house, so may just take the leaves out of the dining table to shrink it down, and try to stack all the packed boxes in that room alone.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets...I think the fish scale paper might be Basic Grey but it is so old I am not sure...VOS for sure!

  3. That's a great way to use the coaster and it's framed out just right! Love all the papers you used with this too. Fantastic card!
I wouldn't even want to think about having to pack up my craft room....or anywhere else in the house for that matter! LOL! Good idea to start it all early though!

  4. Such a GREAT card.
I thought the fishing lure was popped out, so cool.
I too save everything…coasters included, lol.
I don't even want to think of ever packing up my craft room…never mind my whole home.
    Good luck to you :)

  5. Hi Maureen! It's been a while, and I see you've been very busy! A move and yet you still keep making cards! I can barely fit in work and daily life sometimes! Congrats on the house sale so quickly, and sounds like your craft room will be packed in no time if you keep up the pace. As I'm feeling that feeling (age) in my knees, wise hubby is right on track to get ahead of the game! Can't wait to see your NEW craft room! Take care. Dawn

  6. Hi Maureen what a fabulous male card. Love how you used the NBUS (coaster)! I have just helped my sister move and what a nightmare. She lives alone and always has and is a hoarder!! Over 140 boxes. This is one of the reasons I won't move!!! Susan x

  12. Loving this card Mo! Perfect for a fisherman :)

I think Al is right, better to pace the packing - and storing in one place is also a good idea. Our dining room has our bedroom furniture in which is likely to still be there over Christmas - so Christmas lunch promises to be fun. One of us either end of the dressing table perhaps? Sigh.

  13. Ok, so if my hubby ever brings up how much hobby stuff I've got I'm going to make him read your blog, lol! You seem very organized though, that's something I can't brag about...
What a fantastic card you've made! It's so perfect in color, texture and theme for a masculine design!

  15. Your card is absolutely beautiful! I don't make enough masculine cards and then when I need one, I have to scramble. This month I resolved to make masculine cards - have I made one yet? No. But if I could make something that looked like this, I'd start right away! Well done! It's perfect.

Now about your move. Having just moved myself, I agree with hubby! Do as much as you can ahead of time. I did a little each day and it was still overwhelming!

  16. Super snippets card Mo.

I would be like you . . . not wanting packing boxes left around everywhere! Still, it's a good idea to do a bit at a time! xxx

  18. Dear Fellow Packrat- your coaster fish card is just brilliant! You clever girl, to see the nifty image and realize it worked so well with the gears die. One more masculine card to have ready as you need it. Good for your DH at getting a head start on the packing & it will help you to see more what you have to keep & what you plan to eliminate. You're a good team it sounds like. From one packrat to another!!! Big Hugs. TFS

  22. You have the most amazing eye for design, Mo! I love seeing how you create and this masculine snippets card is aces!!

It sounds like you are already making good progress on the move preparations and that you've got a lot of schtuff to go through! I remember all the forgotten goodies I found when I moved ten years' worth of goodies from the garage to the Playhouse. It's amazing! And hubby is right, easy does it, as much as possible. Hugs, Darnell
