My first card is designed to suit the March Moodboard at Two Peas In a Bucket. The colours this month are soft and sort of dreamy. Checked my stash and found these snippets of EP Tis the Season for the background papers and set them onto a pretty textured and pearlized aqua card stock mat.. They were not quite big enough so I fitted a scallopy K&Co grey border piece to fill the gap. I quite like the look of it so must remember to mimic this look in the future. Now, I'm not good at remembering, so I might need reminding!!!
The quote is from a Project Life sheet of quote cards, that I double matted with auqa and teal textured and pearilized cardstock. Two K&Co silver and white snowflakes and two aqua glittered foam snowflakes finished off the design. The bottom snowflake seemed too small, so I tucked a dollar store shimmery fabric snowflake behind it. I have a drawer full of these and use them often. Sprinkled a few teensy diamonds here and there and it was done. Here is a close up of the layered snowflake...
In spite of my resolve to finish the inside of my cards as I make them, I am posting this card without that step. It has been a hellish couple of weeks and I just have not got down to the scrapbook room to finish it yet. I will get it done before shelving this card.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Rudolph Days - must be Christmas
2. Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge Extra - must be Christmas
3. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets
4. MFP Christmas Card Challenge - must be Christmas
5. Holly Jolly Christmas - Bingo, mine is Blue, free and snowflakes
My second card is from a crafty day with my neighbour, Lisa. I do not have manufacturer names for this one as it was her day to design and make the card kit. I am really happy with it and loved her design and paper/embellishment selections. This was a fun card to make as it is so feminine and girly! I think I will give it to my girlfriend that has lost her husband. She will totally enjoy the girlyness of it!
I did manage to finish this one...but you will have a chuckle over how I did it...Yes, Yes, I know that the finished pieces usually go on the bottom half of the inner card. Somehow I managed to dent the card itself, so I used the extra paper to cover up that booboo. Luckily Lisa had those pretty sentiment dies for the bottom half. I will use a rub-on for the sentiment on the die.
No recipes tonight, as I have already given you the info already for the first card and have no info for the second!

I love sparkly cards so think these are fab! xxx Jan xx
ReplyDeleteTwo, too cute...I love the blue card and it is very calming. The snowflakes are absolutely beautiful. Great idea for joining the two pieces and the perfect amount of bling. Your pink card made me feel happy. Great snowflake, one of my favorite ones and your little bird, I would never thought to add that, but it's perfect. Happy Rudolph Day.
ReplyDeleteI just love snowflakes, so these cards are a hit with me! I'm especially loving the colors and sentiment on the first! Sparkle on!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are beautiful....The snowflakes are outstanding...Hugs, joann
ReplyDeleteThese are both really stunning, Maureen! You made two delightful snowflake cards! Sorry things have been hellish lately. I hope they have settled down now and things are more heavenish! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteBoth lovely cards. I love the gorgeous colours on the second card. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteI love sentiment only cards and the one you used for your first card is so decorative and lovely! Beautifully decorated with snowflakes and I like the softness added to this card by the scalloped edges of the card base. It also suits this week's bingo challenge over at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge where I'm a guest designer this week. You should consider entering it there as well, they've got some fab prizes this week:)
ReplyDeleteYour pink card is so delicate and feminine, a lovely non traditional Christmas card with plenty of Christmas feel!
Two gorgeous cards, love the colourways that you have used, fantastic snowflakes too.

i love the whole feel of the top card. It is beautiful. I wouldn't have chosen the pink for the second one, but I love the way it has come together, and the steps you took to disguise the little problems. The delicate large snowflake is beautiful. Like you, I am determined not to file away my cards until they have their inserts made this year. Two more for the collection. Sarn is keeping us on track isn't she? Kate x
ReplyDeleteWow, totally beautiful! I love the colours of the first one, it's a very elegant card, and the second one is really sweet with a beautifully decorated inside too. Gotta get a wiggle on, my cards have been mostly made since Sunday!

Maureen, these are 2 lovely cards, and each in such a different colorway. That was a smooth save on your snowflake in the corner. Clever girl to think of your snippet & create a stunning snowflake. It's just lovely. I'm liking the design of this soft card and all the pretty colors. Loved the combo of the 2 blues as mats. Now #2 is equally gorgeous. Loved the diamond corners (gotta remember that), and your pretty dove with his dress of diamonds. On the interior sentiment, as designer, YOU get to decide where elements are placed, and I think yours looked perfectly wonderful as is! Love reading about your 'bargain' uses and your recoveries! Also hope you begin to feel better very soon. See ya Sunday. Almost ready for that one, but still scrambling with Blogger & trying to get something over for Rudolph. Hugs, TFS & Happy wkend.
ReplyDeleteI love both of these cards! Love the peaceful classic look of the first card and all the pink and dazzle of the second!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some gorgeous snowflakes on these cards. What a great way to deal with your snippets not quite being big enough. I usually use ribbon, but I really like how that border piece looks. I really like the silver and blue combo on the first card and how girly and pink the second card is. A great pair of Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are really nice. I especially like the first one where the focus is on the sentiment. The snowflakes that surround it are so pretty. Thanks for sharing with us at Holly Jolly this week.

Hi there Maureen - I've just popped over after you left such a lovely comment on my House Mouse card. So glad I did 'cos these two are superb! Not too happy about the first one .... only 'cos I am now trilling along with the sentiment and don't know all the words so just keep repeating the same ones!!!!! LOL. Driving Graham potty!
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, I do love them both and I think the pink one is such a different shade as well - would love either of them to drop on my mat!
Big hugs to you Sue Pxxx
Very pretty cards! You are going to have so many great cards come holiday time :)
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely Christmas cards Mo, and lots of lovely snowflakes. The colours are lovely on both, but I do love blue for Christmas and the grey tone goes beautifully. x
