It's a guy thing

At one of our weekly craft days, it was my neigbour's turn to design the the card. I think she aced it with this great masculine card!

My card kit envelope contained a corrugated card, a piece of glittered silvery and gold paper, a piece of coppery Miri card, a decoupaged motorcycle image and a piece of fine silver stretchy cord.

This was a fun card to make. The stretchy cord was a great idea as you can tie a bow or a knot and still get it nice and tight. I am going to watch for something similar as it was so easy on my hands to tie a bow with this cord.
Here is a closeup of the decoupage...

This card will be perfect for a friend of ours who led the motorcycle division when he was in the police force.

I have left the inside blank as I am not sure the occasion I will use it for. The retired policeman friend has house parties a couple times a year and visit us up at the lake for a few days. I may keep it just as a note card or thank you note...Or may save it for his birthday.

I have been pretty good about finished the inside of about 95% of my cards. It has been made a bit easier as I generally know who I am going to give a card to and for what reason. That really helps plan what to put inside.
For the ones that are unknown, I have stamped a little drawer full of sentiments. I have done a few of my fave Birthday, Thank You and Hello sentiments in the three common colours of card I generally make...white, cream and of course kraft. That way, once I decide what I want to use the card for, I can just grab one and glue it down. I try to leave a couple of snippets of the front DP inside the card before I place it in the plastic sleeve. I can then use those when I add that sentiment.

This is an auto scheduled post as I will be up at Mum's and have very little access to the internet. I will return all comments once I am back home!

I am entering thos card in the following challenges
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use patterned paper
2. Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge - must cover your card with paper

  7. Hi Maureen,
what a super card. I love the design of this just right for the person you are talking about.
Enjoy your time with your Mum, I know what you mean about the internet, as when I go to my sister's later this month she hasn't got the internet at all. When my Dad was alive I could just pop up there and see what you are all up to, but sadly he passed away last year so no internet while I'm away. I just love to be in touch with all my blog friends.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  13. Your attention to organizational details just Wows me! I need you to pay me a visit Maureen! This is very macho & quite just the thing for your friend. I liked all the glisten-y parts...like all the chrome trim on a car. Guys like that sort of thing. The stretchy silver thread was an eye grabber too. Way to Go Maureen. So lovely to see ya in the Playground, as I have been MIA for a bit. No time to pay visits as I felt I should. Hope to start my Sunday card tonight. We'll see. TFS & Hugs. Best to Miss C & Mr. P also. We need some updates!!

  18. Hiya, what a fab masculine card! Great image and the papers are just perfect.

Must be so nice having a like minded friend to go craft with, unfortunately none of mine are into crafting and I do occasionally think I would like to sit and craft with someone - but then maybe I wouldn't like sharing my stash!!!!

  22. Great card!!
    Great dimension to the motorcycle.
I like your idea of putting away stamped sentiments for the insides of cards you are not sure when they will be used.
I too keep pieces of the front paper scraps for the insides, but I mostly finish the insides and stamps the greeting later. :)
