Finally have a card to share. Just started to make the recipe list and had to chuckle. I am so predictable...sure enough, there is a K & Co embellishment on my card! Not again! It seems I use them on almost every Christmas card I make.
My image has been coloured for quite some time. Stamped twice and the wee flower fussy cut for some added double layer dimension. I stickled the leaves and the petals as it seemed too plain. Into the binder it went and has been launguishing in there for several months. Just could not decide how to make it look less plain.
Finally dragged it out and since I had one last acrylic whitewashed painted diecut left over from the butterfly cards, I popped it on there to add the look of a frame.
Here is a bit of a close up...
I have mentioned before that I do not like poinsettias in my house. I always manage to kill them off in no time flat. I have quite a green thumb with other plants...but it is only a matter of time before they start dropping their leaves like mad!
So I have decided the best poinsettia is one that I am giving away! Whether it be a plant, on a card, or even on giftwrap...I like to be giving it away...lol
I chose the sentiment Rejoice as a bit of a pun...Rejoice that this bloom is still alive!

This is gorgeous, I love the image and the touches of glitter looks fab! The twine bow is the perfect finishing touch! Susan x
ReplyDeleteThe little poinsettia really looks nice in that fancy frame, and it makes for such a pretty card! I finally figured out how to keep live poinsettias without leaves dropping. Put them away from windows or direct sunlight, and water them lightly every 4-5 days. My last Christmas poinsettia lasted until late May!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Maureen - love the sparkle - thanks for sharing for both CHNC challenges - hope to see more of your Christmas crafting soon. x
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to have to give working on Kraft a go Maureen because this looks really good and makes a great backdrop to the Poinsettia. Nice design as well.

Aww Mo. I am so glad you took this gorgeous card out of the binder. It needed to be let out. It is gorgeous. So what if you like K&Co. I do too but am usually too tight to use them - especially on cards, unless they were languishing in the Snippets box, drawer, tin....

So pretty Mo! Love the layout, and traditional Christmas colours too.
ReplyDeleteWe'd better not let you be in charge of plants over Christmas in the Playground then huh? :)
Hugs, Di xx
Why mess with success? This is a beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous Christmas card. There's so much wonderful detail.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, I like how you've put the snowflakes along the green card to look like a border punch, that's a great idea. I'm the opposite of you, my Poinsettia's are still thriving in May and I end up chucking them out and feeling so bad about it, lol!!

ReplyDeleteAaah, but if it works, why mess with the formula? I love poinsettas, they just scream Christmas and this card is so pretty! I bought some really good silk ones years ago and bring those out every Christmas! LOL
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! The flower is just gorgeous, the decoupage really makes it stand out! Beautiful!

Wow - this is so pretty! The glitter is wonderful! Hugz!
ReplyDeleteLove this poinsettia, and its leaves aren't going to drop around to make a mess in the house. Really liked the extra dimension you created with the petal layers and your vintage die frame looks perfect with the sparkly flower. Loved it. TFS
ReplyDeleteI love spots and I love traditional colors for Christmas cards, so this card is right down my alley. The poinsettia is beautifully colored and sparkly, and I like the detail of the added bow. Well done!

This is so beautiful! Definitely a poinsettia I could keep alive. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mo
ReplyDeleteYou left a comment on Mags B's blog (Madcap Manor), drooling over the Annabelle stamp, that was free with QCME magazine. I just burst out laughing here - you maybe didn't see what I'd written in the comment directly above yours :))
Watch out for the post man!
Hugs, Di xx as soon as

ReplyDeletePS. yes, do let me know the next time you're visiting Sheffield, I'd love to meet up xx
Gorgeous card, love your choice of papers and the poinsettia stamp is fab. Your 'predictable' embellishment is perfect ... why change a winning formula? :)) Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful and the twine is a nice touch.

I love your half icicle border. Very effective in the green and I see your card tally is creeping up nicely where you have made more than those still to be made. A nice feeling. If you ever get over to the UK the Whitchurch Silk Mill is well worth a visit. They make the black silk for the Crown Courts. You can sometimes see them actually making it in the mill and of course the gift shop has lots of lovely goodies and there is smashing tea rooms right up on the top floor in the loft. Hugs Mrs a.
ReplyDeleteLove all of this MO, what a lot of wonderful work has gone into such a gorgeous creation/s. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Mo I love poinsettia's, it ain't Christmas without one in the house.
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of this flower image and how you've added a wee bit of glitter, beautiful!
Happy crafting, hugs Erika.
Traditional with a modern twist. A super elegant card, Mo!
