I think my card today is a funny one. Funny to me, at least! I missed so many Christmas Card Challenges during the time around my Mum's passing. This card is a very late entry for the March 5th theme, chosen by Zoe at Stamping Scene Blog. If you want to check out any of the other entries, the hyperlinks to the others ladies blogs are on my right sideboard.
In keeping with Zoe's theme, and my goal to use a NBUS item on each card this year, I chose this Stampendous Fluffles the Christmas Cat stamp. I bought this stamp last summer at one of my local papercraft store's garage sales for the princely sum of $2.00 A bargain NBUS item!
I coloured the image with pencil crayons and used Gamsol to blend with. I also managed to use up some more snippets. The green, starry DP is from a snippet of 12x12 Doodlebug, Here Comes Santa Claus, Christmas Countdown. The pinky/red stripey paper is from a snippet of 12x12 Doodlebug, Here Comes Santa Claus, Happy Holidays. The card base and the red mat are Bazzill heavy weight card, the shade is Peppermint. I used Fawn Fawn Stitched rectangle dies to cut the image and the stripey mat. Just hand cut the green DP to fit in between.
I added a light coat of Stardust stickles over the branches and Christmas baubles. I couldnot get a photo that captured the sparkle no matter how hard I tried...
Don't forget that the March Rudolph Days Challenge is open till midnight on the last day of the month. I look forward to seeing your entries!
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Christmas Card Club - Off the wall, Zany, wacky card
2 Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets

Sam at Whisper's Cards has made us this sweet card. The image is adorable and beautifully coloured. I think the die cut mat looks beautiful on this card.
Jenny at Cardsarus was humming Xmas carols when she made this lovely card. Can't you just hear her! The felt holly leaves look wonderful with this great sentiment. Loving all the different fonts here.
Berina at Moxie Craftie Blog has made this lovely wreath card. The gilded mat and sentiment are such a festive touch. I really like the scattered bling on the wreath. They look just like berries!

In The Meadow
Today's card was made at my last Langley Stampers Club meeting. Mildred designed this card using a Stampin' Up "In The Meadow" stamp set.
She used a tried and true design featuring a trio of stamp snippets along one side of the card, and a larger rectangle to the right, which features a deer and fawn. This is a lovely set and it was fun to play with it. Although she supplied a couple of sentiments for this card, I chose to leave it blank for now, until I decide just what occasion to use it for.
We used green and brown ink and coloured the deer panel with chalk. A quick and easy card with a calm feeling and design!

Easter NBUS and some very old stash
It was my turn to design two cards and make up 10 kits for the other member of Langley Stampers Club.
For my first card, I decided to design an Easter card and had great fun making up the kits. The stripey paper is eons old. So old that I cannot even remember when I bought it. I think it may be from the first papercraft garage sale I attended...where 12 x 12 DP was 20 sheets for $1.00 I must say it felt great to use it up!
This scrapbook page size works well for card kits as it only takes 3 sheets to cut it down into twelve 6x6 pieces for the kits. I also had a package of Michaels cheap yellow cardstock on hand. This was bought before I actually made cards...before I learned that it is too flimsy in weight and can easily cut through when it is embossed.
We very carefully embossed this pale yellow paper with a Darice Cherry Blossom folder, taking care to only run it forward through the Big Shot once. Rolling it through again backwards, seems to increase the odds of cracking the pattern through the cardstock. I like to open the folder and sort of flex one of the single bottom edges till the paper starts to release on its own. That way you have the whole bottom edge released, sometimes even released to half way up the folder. Less chance of cracking that way.
We used a Memory Box grass die gto hide the joined papers, and then pop dotted my NBUS Memory Box Fuzzy Bunnies on top. I bought this die on an amazing sale...just $2.00 Yay!
Luckily, I had two Michaels $1.00 bin stamps that were Easter themed and best of all they were NBUS. Well, I am pretty sure they both were NBUS. The sentiment stamp is for sure! I used Brilliance Orchid ink to stamp them both and then die cut the bunny with a Spellbinders Big Scalloped Ovals die. The sentiment was cut with a Taylored Expressions Banner Thinlets banner die. A few pink rhinestones on the blossoms and this card was done.
Recipe
Hand cut card
Envelope for stash
Cardstock - from my stash
DP - stripey paper is VOS (very old stash)
EF - Darice Cherry Blossom
Dies = Spellbinder Big Scalloped Ovals; Memory Box Fuzzy Bunnies; Memory Box Grass border
Bling = pink rhinestones
PS
If anyone knows how to avoid cutting through the cardstock when you emboss, let me know. I just read on Pinterest that if you finely mist the card with 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol that it softens the fibers and there is less chance of cracking. Will try that next time.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
1. Pixies Crafty Workshop - must use snippets
I cut the grass from green snippets left over from making hills on another card. The bunnies were cut from very small pink snippets and I cut extras for each person so as to use up all the teensy bits.
